Thames Path walk Hammersmith to Kew 25th August **Update**

view profile

Heart & Soul is a group administrator Heart & Soul says:

This walk will be along the Thames path on both north and south sides of the Thames. The main part of the walk will start at Hammersmith bridge on the north-side and cover the Thames path all the way to Kew Bridge.

This walk will make use of both side of the Thames to incorporate the most inserting parts of the route. We shall be stopping on the way for a Pie, Pint and a natter. As well as a chance to rest your feet.

We will be meeting at Hammersmith tube station at 12:30 and making our way to Hammersmith bridge on the north-side for 1pm

I shall be supplying a link to a map including cut of points for those who wish to drop out earlier and the pub stops on the way.

I suggest we meet outside the Tescos, in the little mall.

If coming on the Hammersmith, and city line cross the two roads using the pelican crossings towards the district and Piccadilly lines. Walk through the little mall until you see the Tescos.

If coming on the district or Piccadilly lines, there are 2 exits. If you see a WH Smiths turn left and walk through the mall until you see Tescos. The other exit is right next to Tescos.

Which side of the river?
We did south side a few years back - it's OK but maybe a little dull in parts (just an overgrown path).

Saying that, the north side can be a tad dull too in places (I used to cycle it).

Maybe you can switch sides as you hit different bridges. :-)

Bouncy I was going to do the southside as it's been a few years since we have done this part of the walk.

For all those worried about the distance please bare with me I've not had a chance to work out the distance. The route will be on the south side of the Thames and will not be length above. I should hopefully have this fixed by next weekend.

Guys and girls there is now a map been added to first post which you should all be able to look at. I have picked two pubs both of which are about halfway either of which we can choose to stop in on the way around. There are other pubs but most of these are at the start of the walk which is a bit to early. I have also added end pub as well.

Pub number 1: White Hart
Pub number 2: The Ship
End pub: The Greyhound

I have been asked to add a drop out point for anyone wishing to leave earlier, which is Barnes station just as we cross the river which is about 1/2 away round This is also near to the one of the pub stops the white heart. So those wish to drop out halfway and have a point with us before moving on.

Once the walk is over there is nearly always people going onto do other things and one such suggestion was on the way back into london photograph some of bridges specially lit for the Olympics I will leave this idea for the day. There was also another suggestion to carry on to Richmond my original end point either of which can happen if people wish to

Ok .... Time to pass on local knowledge!

Hammersmith tube station is in two parts, separated by a main road and has a combined 3 exits. To eliminate confusion and 50/50s.......

I suggest we meet outside the Tescos, in the little mall.

If coming on the Hamm, and city line cross the two roads using the pelican crossings towards the district and Piccadilly lines. Walk through the little mall until you see the tescos.

If comming on the district or Piccadilly lines, there are 2 exits. If you see a WH Smiths turn left and walk through the mall until you see tescos. The other exit is right next to tescos.

I will then guide the group to the river.

See you there!

I hope to make it along to this one (weather / hangover permitting).

I see the route passes by the Rutland pub too - that used to be a favourite hangout when I first moved to London - so I might make an unscheduled stop for a pint there too.
