Welcome to Light Stencil Central!

Light painting is the process of moving light sources around during a single exposure, to create an overall shot.

A more specific way to include light forms into a photo is with `light stencils' - whether it be moving lights behind a cut out, or light being flashed into a box, to reveal the image in light.

The focus of this group is about this form of light painting - using light stencils.

Group Description

ABOUT THE GROUP

The focus of this group is a form of light painting, which uses light stencils to create specific light forms within long exposure photography.

Light Stencil Central will also be the central point to access the travelling light stencil groups. Our aim is to create a space where people can come, discuss light stencils, how they make them, find information should they wish to have a go at creating them, or just have a look.

Please have a look at the group pool, and feel free to join in.

Whether you make light stencils, or like looking at light stencils - Everyone is welcome!

TRAVELLING STENCILS

Ever wondered what would happen if you sent one stencil to multiple light junkies around the world to all take shots with?

A group was created in 2010 for light painters from around the globe to have a go at creating their own unique impression with the same stencil. Starting in Australia in July 2010, and traveling over 42,000 miles around the world, each photograph is a representation from all different countries and states that it travels to.
