Group Description

Photographers are all about creating, and the LEGO® brand loves creators. So we’ve teamed up for a one-of-a-kind photo contest!

To enter, join the group and add up to a total of three (3) Safe images that you have taken yourself. Only images uploaded since January 1, 2020, are eligible to win. All entries are due by November 1, 2021 (9PM PST). We are looking for photos that feature LEGO bricks, builds, or minifigures in a creative, fun, or fantastic way. For this contest, the focus should be on the art of photography, and how you can incorporate LEGO elements into it.

In partnership with LEGO, six (6) winners will be awarded.

A panel of judges will review all entries and judge images on their photo quality and creative use of LEGO.

FLICKR x LEGO® Build & Capture Photo Contest 2021


CONTEST OVERVIEW AND DESCRIPTION: The FLICKR x LEGO® Build & Capture Photo Contest (the “Contest”) begins on or about September 27, 2021 (Noon PST) and ends on November 1, 2021 (9PM PST) (the “Contest Submission Period”). During the Contest Submission Period, entrants will have the opportunity to upload up to three (3) original photographs (each, a “Photo”) to FLICKR x LEGO Build & Capture Photo Contest 2021 available at (each a “Submission”). Up to three (3) Submissions per entrant. By participating in the Contest, each entrant unconditionally accepts and agrees to comply with and abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of SmugMug, Inc., (“Sponsor”) which shall be final and binding in all respects. The Flickr site, available at is operated by Flickr, Inc. ("Flickr"), a fully owned subsidiary of SmugMug, Inc.

ELIGIBILITY: The Contest is open only to entrants who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Residents of Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, the Crimea region of Ukraine, and countries currently subject to United States embargo or on the United States list of state sponsors of terrorism are not eligible to participate. Officers, directors and employees of Sponsor and the LEGO Group, and their subsidiaries, affiliates, members, and each of their immediate family members and/or people living in the same household are NOT eligible to enter the Contest or win a prize. Void where prohibited. Contest subject to all federal, state and local laws.

HOW TO ENTER: To participate in the Contest, you must have a Flickr account. If you do not have an account, you can get one for free at During the Contest Submission Period, upload up to three (3) original Photos that demonstrate your best interpretation of the contest theme to the Flickr Group located at: Submissions must meet the following “Submission Requirements”: (i) the Submission must be the submitting entrant’s original work; (ii) the entrant must provide upon request all appropriate clearances, permissions and releases for the Submission; and (iii) a Submission may only include images that are moderated as “Safe” in accordance with the Flickr Community Guidelines located at or images that are not obscene, pornographic, libelous or otherwise objectionable. Only publicly viewable images will be considered valid entries. Any entry featuring a Submission that, in Sponsor’s good faith judgment, violates the Submission Requirements will be disqualified. Proof of entering information on the Website is not considered proof of delivery to or receipt by Sponsor of such entry. All Submissions and use of the Flickr site are subject to the Terms of Use policy available at:, which shall remain in full force and effect.

SELECTION OF WINNERS: On or about Nov 1, 2021, a panel of judges comprised of LEGO Group staff and Flickr staff appointed by Sponsor will select the winners (the “Judging Panel”) from among all eligible Submissions. The Judging Panel will determine the winners based on the following selection criteria: originality, creativity, and skill. In the event of any tie, the entrant who receives the higher score in the “originality” criteria, as determined by the qualified judges in their sole discretion, will be selected from among the tied entrants as the potential prize winner. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received during the Contest Submission Period and the quality of the Submissions. The winners will be notified by SmugMug Inc. on or about five (5) business days after the judging. Incomplete entries will not be accepted. In Sponsor’s sole discretion, a selected winner may be required to forfeit a prize and an alternate winner may be selected in accordance with these Official Rules from among the remaining eligible entries for that prize if selected winner (i) is unreachable within 72 hours, (ii) declines or cannot accept, receive or use the prize for any reason, or (iii) fails to comply with these Official Rules.

PRIZES: A total of ten (10) prizes are available, a description of each and the recommended retail price (“RRP”) of a prize is described below.

○ Second Place Prize - The collection of 3 Marvel Studios - Iron Man LEGO Art sets (RRP $359.97/ £344.97)
○ Third Place Prize - The collection of 3 Star Wars - The Sith LEGO Art sets (RRP $359.97/ £344.97)

Actual value may vary depending on winner’s residence. No cash alternative or prize substitutions will be allowed, except Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prize(s) of comparable value if the prize listed is unavailable for any reason, including cancellation of the Contest. Prize may not be extended, transferred or refunded. Any stated difference between the approximate value and actual value of a prize or any substituted prize will not be awarded. Winners are solely responsible for all applicable taxes, including without limitation, federal, state and/or local taxes, and the reporting consequences thereof, and for any other fees or costs associated with the applicable prize.


GRANT OF RIGHTS: For good and valuable consideration, the receipt and legal sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, each entrant into the Contest grants the following rights for the use of a Submission:

(a) To Sponsor. Each entrant grants Sponsor, its successors and assigns, a non-exclusive, limited, worldwide, royalty-free license (but not the obligation), the right to use, distribute, publish, publicly perform and publicly display a Submission (in whole or in part) for a period of twelve (12) months from the date winners are announced, solely in connection with this Contest or similar promotional activity via Flickr owned media properties and third party social media platforms, including but not limited to, social media efforts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), blog posts, Flickr galleries via links to social media efforts, email communications, marketing communications, and PR efforts (press affiliates via broadcast and digital). Without in any way limiting the foregoing, Sponsor shall have the right, in its sole discretion, to edit, composite, morph, scan, duplicate, or alter a Submission in connection with Sponsor’s permitted uses hereunder. To the extent Sponsor uses a Submission in connection with the Flickr services, and to the extent feasible, such use will include a credit line attribution and a link to the Submission on Submission photos will never be sold at any time for profit.

(b) To the LEGO Group. Each entrant grants The LEGO Group and any affiliate controlling, controlled by or under common control with Partner, its successors and assigns (collectively “Partner”) a non-exclusive, unlimited, worldwide, royalty-free license (but not the obligation), for a period of twelve (12) months from the date winners are announced, with the right to reproduce, exploit or otherwise use, distribute, publish, publicly perform and publicly display a Submission (in whole or in part) in any and all mediums and any media now known or hereafter developed, without further notice to, consent by, or payment to you. Without in any way limiting the foregoing, Partner shall have the right, in its sole discretion, to edit, composite, morph, scan, duplicate, or alter the Submission in connection with Partner’s permitted uses hereunder. To the extent Partner uses a Submission in connection with Partner’s permitted uses hereunder, and, to the extent feasible, Partner will include a credit line attribution and a link to the Submission on Submission photos will never be sold at any time for profit.

Sponsor and Partner have no obligation to unpublish, remove or otherwise take-down any content, materials or publications in any form or in any medium (including on their respective social media platform or editorial websites) that reference of incorporate a Submission that either Sponsor or Partner created, produced or published on or before termination of the licenses granted hereunder.

FURTHER DOCUMENTATION: If Sponsor shall desire to secure additional assignments, releases from third parties appearing in the Submission, or other documents as Sponsor may reasonably require in order to effectuate the purposes and intents of these Official Rules, then each entrant agrees to sign the same upon Sponsor’s request therefor.

PUBLICITY: Except where prohibited or restricted by law, by entering a Submission constitutes the Entrant’s agreement and consent for Sponsor and any of its designees to use and/or publish Entrant’s full name, city and state of residence, photographs or other likenesses, pictures, portraits, video, voice, testimonials, biographical information (in whole or in part), and/or statements made by Entrant regarding the Contest or Sponsor, worldwide and in perpetuity for any and all purposes, including, but not limited to, advertising, trade and/or promotion on behalf of Sponsor, in any and all forms of media, now known or hereafter devised, including, but not limited to, print, TV, radio, electronic, cable, or World Wide Web, without further limitation, restriction, compensation, notice, review, or approval.

ENTRY CONDITION: By submitting an entry or otherwise participating in this Contest you understand and hereby agree to: (i) comply with and be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor which are binding and final in all matters relating to this Contest; (ii) defend, indemnify, release and hold harmless the Sponsor and its respective parent,subsidiary, and affiliated companies, celebrities, and any other person and organization responsible for sponsoring,fulfilling, administering, advertising or promoting the Contest, including without limitation any third party sponsors of a prize, and all of their respective past and present officers, directors, employees, agents and representatives (collectively,the “Released Parties”) from and against any and all claims, expenses, and liability, including but not limited to negligence and damages of any kind to persons and property, including but not limited to invasion of privacy (under appropriation, intrusion, public disclosure of private facts, false light in the public eye or other legal theory), defamation, slander, libel, violation of right of publicity, infringement of trademark, copyright or other intellectual property rights, property damage, or death or personal injury arising out of or relating to: (a) the Contest or any information provided by you in connection with the Contest, including but not limited to any Contest-related activity or element thereof, the receipt of marketing messages, participation or inability to participate in the Contest or in any parts thereof, (b) the violation of any third party privacy, personal, publicity or proprietary rights, (c) typographical errors in these Official Rules or any Contest-related promotional materials, (d) acceptance, possession, defects in, use, misuse or inability to use a prize (or any component thereof), (e) any change in the prizing (or any components thereof) due to unavailability, or due to reasons beyond the Sponsor’s control, (f) any interruptions in or postponement, cancellation, or modification of the Contest, (g) human error, (h) incorrect or inaccurate transcription, receipt or transmission of any part of the entry (including, without limitation, the entry information or any parts thereof), (i) any technical malfunctions or unavailability of the Website, or any telephone network, computer online system, computer timing and/or dating mechanism, computer equipment, software, or Internet service provider, or mail service utilized by any of the Released Parties or by an entrant, (j) interruption or inability to access the Contest, the Website, or any other promotion-related web pages (in either direction), or any Internet online service or cellular service (as applicable) due to hardware or software compatibility problems, (k) any damage to entrant’s (or any third person’s) computer or wireless device (as applicable) and/or its contents related to or resulting from any part of the Contest, (l) any lost/delayed data transmissions (in either direction), omissions, interruptions, defects, and/or any other errors or malfunctions, (m) any late, lost, stolen, mutilated, misdirected, illegible, delayed, garbled, corrupted, destroyed, incomplete, undeliverable or damaged entries (n) any wrongful, negligent, or unauthorized act or omission on the part of any of the Released Parties, or any of their agents or employees, and/or (o) cancellations, delays, diversions or substitutions or any act or omissions whatsoever by the air carrier(s), or other transportation companies, hotel(s), or any other persons providing any of these services and accommodations to passengers including any results thereof such as changes in services or accommodations necessitated by same, (p) lost, stolen, damaged, delayed, or misdirected baggage or (q) lost, late, stolen, misdirected, damaged or destroyed prizing (or any element thereof); and (iii) to waive all of your rights to bring any claim, action, or proceeding against any of the Released Parties in connection with this Contest. Winner acknowledges that all prizes are awarded as-is without warranty of any kind.

The LEGO Group is providing the prizes for this Contest and will be represented on the Judging Panel, but is not otherwise involved in or responsible for the administration of this Contest.

GENERAL CONDITIONS: Sponsor and its subsidiaries, affiliates, divisions, partners, representatives, agents, successors, assigns, employees, officers and directors shall not have any obligation or responsibility, including any responsibility to award any prize to entrants, with regard to: (a) entries that contain inaccurate information or do not comply with or violate the Official Rules; (b) entries, prize claims or notifications that are lost, late, incomplete, illegible, unintelligible, damaged or otherwise not received by the intended recipient, in whole or in part, due to computer, human or technical error of any kind; (c) entrants who have committed fraud or deception in entering or participating in the Contest or claiming the prize; (d) telephone, electronic, hardware, software, network, Internet or computer malfunctions, failures or difficulties; (e) any inability of the Winner to accept the prize for any reason; (f) if a prize cannot be awarded due to delays or interruptions due to Acts of God, natural disasters, terrorism, weather or any other similar event beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control; or (g) any damages, injuries or losses of any kind caused by any prize or resulting from awarding, acceptance, possession, use, misuse, loss or misdirection of any prize or resulting from participating in this Contest or any promotion or prize related activities. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds to be (a) tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest, or with any Website promoting the Contest; (b) acting in violation of the Official Rules; or (c) entering or attempting to enter the Contest multiple times through the use of multiple email addresses or the use of any robotic or automated devices to submit entries. No groups, clubs or organizations may participate in this Contest or reproduce or distribute any portion of these Official Rules or marketing to its members. If Sponsor determines, in its sole discretion, that technical difficulties or unforeseen events compromise the integrity or viability of the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right to void the entries at issue, and/or terminate the relevant portion of the Contest, including the entire Contest, and/or modify the Contest and/or award the prize from all eligible entries received as of the termination date.

LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY: The Released Parties are not responsible for: (a) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrants, printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (b) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions,or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (c) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Contest; (d) technical or human error in the administration of the Contest or the processing of registrations; or (e) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize. If for any reason anentrant’s registration is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost, or otherwise destroyed or corrupted, entrant’s sole remedy is another entry in the Contest. No more than the stated number of each prize will be awarded.

DISPUTES: Entrants agrees that: (a) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; (b) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved exclusively by the United States District Court or the appropriate California State Court located in Santa Clara County, California; (c) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Contest, but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (d) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of California, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the State of California or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of California.
