I can wait until Campo Gorill Reserve exhibit opens. Today I visited the zoo and I managed to take some photos of the Gorillas through some holes from the fence. (The gorillas where far from where I was standing so my photos are kind of blurry) Here are some of them:

We must be on the same wave length, I was just posting some shots I took today of the exhibit when I spotted your post. Mine aren't much better, but the exhibit looks great and the few gorillas I spotted seemed comfortable in the space.

Cool! I love sneaky photos! They seem to be settling down OK.

Anyone going to the member preview days on 11/5 (Monday) and 11/6 (Tuesday)?

Those are really good for peeking through the fence. We went yesterday to the preview. I really like the exhibit. The viewing areas with glass are kind of a drag. Because of the angle, it is really hard to get rid of the reflections with a polarizer. If you get your lens right up to the glass it's O.K. The preview ended at 11 AM so later in the day might be better. I have a bunch of shots of Evelyn, a few poor shots of Jabari (it was his birthday yesterday), and a few of Glenda. Glenda was up on the hill with either Rapunzel or Kelly, I couldn't see who. Hasani and Jabari were next to the glass until the crowd cleared and then Jabari only appeared briefly while I had a chance to get some shots.

I'm about a year behind in posting pics so I'll try and post some of my new gorilla and tiger shots at the same time I post the old stuff.

Mario, you asked if my Crowned Pigeon was in Zoo View. None of my stuff has been published. The zoo has staff photographers and I'm not one of them:) I think Tad M., who does seem to take most of the zoo's photos took my picture at the preview.

You're right about the glass windows. The glare is brutal. Also, the stroller gangs...they gotta go!

It may take weeks, if not months, for Glenda to feel comfortable enough to stay up front. Rapunzel seems like a very cautious mom.

Tad is the older photog. There's another younger photog whose name escapes me. His name is listed in the zoo newsletters. I was at the snow leopard exhibit with Tad once. Tom and Gerry both loved him and they came right up front and Tad petted them through the fence!

I think the younger photographer's name is Jamie Pham, but I'm not sure.

I think the only way to fix the glare is to add more shade.
