I received a warning mail from the Flickr staff today, about linking to eBay auctions from my photos. Apparently this goes against the Flickr guidelines:

"Use Flickr for Commercial Purposes
Flickr is for personal use only. If you sell products,
services or yourself through your photostream, we will
terminate your account. Any other commercial use of Flickr,
Flickr technologies (including APIs, Flickrmail, etc), or
Flickr accounts must be approved by Flickr."

I'm usually a "play by the rules" kind of person, I certainly had no intention to go against the guidelines... I guess when I opened my Flickr account I had no idea I would ever be making beads and/or selling them online, so this whole thing never occurred to me. And I've seen lots of people linking to various sales sites from their photostreams, I didn't know it wasn't allowed... I've even seen a couple of "Items for Sale" groups! I don't know how they found me, maybe someone reported me or something. But anyway, I've removed all eBay links from my photos.

I'm posting this here because I know some of you link to your auctions or other sales sites from your photos, and I wouldn't want anyone to get into trouble with Flickr. A complete list of the Flickr community guidlines can be found here:

Anyway, no hard feelings, I'll still be posting photos of my beads to share with you and I still love Flickr.

Oh great, yes, I just noticed they've banned my photos from the tags section also. I sent them an email - this sucks, is it for good or are they going to put my photos back?
Bah, I don't want to be a ghost.

Looks like an interesting discussion, but I can't read a word of it... :-)
Could you give me a general idea of what they are saying?
