Hello, I'm travelling from Melbourne Australia and a keen photographer. I will be in Istanbul on Sunday 6th June and looking for a guide to show me around with the emphasises on photography opportunities – seeing the city through a lens. Any recommendations? There are many more photographers who know the city better than me in this group and I am sure you will get great suggestions. It is such an extraordinary city.

What would I suggest?

Get yourself to Sutanahmet.... and you there you will find the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and much else in close proximity.... from there you can walk via the Grand Bazaar, through the back streets down to the water and the Spice Bazaar... which is between the Rustem Pasha mosque and the Galatea Bridge....

Near there catch the ferry for Uskadar not forgetting to have a cheap glass of çay on the ferry and lunch at the Kanaat Lokantasi near the ferry mooring...

That is more than enough for several days

We got home last Thursday (April 22nd) after being caught up with the volcano . . . just beginning to construct a blog at (sorry about the spelling mistake)...
