I just received my D300 today. I have the Nikon D300 dvd and David Busch's Book as well. Plus i went online and downloaded the Manual and have it now in print.
It will take me a long time to learn this camera so if you have anything to add please fill me in. I use to have a Canon 40D but the nikon has at least 3 times as many adjustments to it. I love it...
although i am learning it the best i can your imput would help. Thanks David

I have invested a lot and learning everything i can about nikon.
In the Ebook by Thom Hogan's (thanks Serge) i spent all day sunday just on the 1st 190 pages. The interesting thing i picked up is Nikon's sensor for the D300 and above is a sony sensor and they tweaked it.
Also they tend to use more green and less blue and red because those colors have more noise to them. The Nikon D300 with the battery grip becomes a heck of a sports camera with 8 fps.
You can also adjust your camera to shoot in 14 bit raw format.
With the D300 almost every adjustment can be done outside of the camera without going thru the menu screen.
With the D300 you can use from a 9-21 -51 metering points.
Please feel free to add anything you have learned about Nikon...:)
