My favorite thing about photography is getting to see moments that would have been gone forever if a person hadn't been readily standing by with their camera.

Pictures of someone or something stopped in midair are part of that category which is the inspiration for this week's assignment: Capture Something Airborne

The only rule is it can't be a bird, plane or insect. Beyond that the sky is the limit (literally).

This time she was snatched

Tips for Getting the Best Results:

High Shutter Speed
This is the most important part and to stop time you really want to have a shutter speed between 1/500 and 1/1000 so get ready to get back into manual mode or at least Shutter Priority mode.

The More Light the Better
At those high shutter speeds you need a lot of light to get a properly exposed image. If you're able to get your subject in direct sunlight this should be no problem at all. If you're stuck indoors or the weather doesn't cooperate however, just find something that falls slowly so you don't need to use such a high shutter speed.

Other than that just have fun and I look forward to seeing your pictures!

November 28th? How many times do I have to tell you Serge that using your red swami hat to get assignments from the future undermines the process. ;)

Kool shots nathen. I like the 1st one good capture. Did you use a ND filter
nathanrhoades PRO 9 years ago
No filters, I let a friend borrow my good lens. Shot all these with my Tamron 18-200 all around. Had my white balance screwed up for the first half of the show......
