Elliot Erwitt is a very famous photographer from Paris and I love his photographs of dogs on the street-if you're not familiar with him please look him up and you'll see what I mean. So since the weather is getting nice and people are out in force with their pets it might be a good time to try some dogs on the street photographs.

Go to a place where people take dogs

Find a spot with nice light and wait for the person and pet to walk through:

* You might want to ask permission if you're very close
* Ask some dogs to stops for a portrait
* Try shooting "from the hip" (don't look through the viewfinder).

Of course, a safety precaution please don't approach dogs that you don't know and get very close without talking to the owner- safety first. But try some this week and I will too!

In the Feb, or March edition of B&W they do a spotlight on Erwitt, pretty cool since I'm still so new to all of this.

One of my greatest pleasures is taking photos of homeless animals - especially dogs - at the Clinton County Humane Society. They are in a stressful situation and the key is to be patient. These are a few of my latest trip up.
