WHAT:
The International Museum of Women is proud to host its first Mother’s Day Photo Contest!
We are looking for original and striking images depicting motherhood and what Mother’s Day means to you. We encourage entries from all corners of the world, in both rural and urban settings. We expect to receive images that represent motherhood, maternity, pregnancy, mother relationships and everything in between.
With Mother’s Day just around the corner, why not take a moment to pay tribute to an extraordinary mother in your life by taking her photo or capturing an intimate moment you witnessed on this special day.
In conjunction with the Motherhood theme exhibit of the International Museum of Women’s Imagining Ourselves project and our current “Motherhood Today” blog on Yahoo Health!
PRIZES:
Ten winners will be announced in June 2007. Winners will each receive a free copy of the Imagining Ourselves anthology, and will be featured in a special Mother’s Day Tribute section of the Imagining Ourselves online exhibition. ( For examples of the online exhibit, see here) Selected participants may also be highlighted on the Motherhood Today Yahoo! Health Blog—a signature project of the International Museum of Women, featuring prominent artists from around the world, including notables such as Queen Rania of Jordan, singer Toni Braxton, journalist Lisa Ling, and many more.
WHEN:
Deadline for submitting entries is May 31st, 2007.
Winners’ photographs will be included in the special Mother’s Day Tribute module of the Imagining Ourselves exhibit in June, 2007.
JUDGES:
The International Advisory Committee of the Imagining Ourselves project—includes professional curators, artists and activists from more than 17 countries!
Entries will be judged on composition, overall impact, originality, and artistic merit. Decisions made by judges are final.

Group Rules
1. Three photographs may be submitted per person. Entries must be:•The original work of the participant
•Not previously published or copyrighted
•Non-infringing of the rights of others
•Respectful of the rights, sensitivities, and culture of persons depicted
Failure to comply with these rules may disqualify your submission.
2. Winners will be notified by e-mail if their work was selected. If any winner fails to claim his or her prize within 30 days of being notified, that winner may forfeit his or her prize
3. By adding your photo to this contest, you understand that it may be chosen for display on the Imagining Ourselves online exhibit (imaginingourselves.imow.org) and the Yahoo! Health Blog (blogs.health.yahoo.com/intlwomen)- and agree to have your photo used for these purposes. We will only use your photo for these purposes. If the International Museum of Women determines that we would like to use the photo for any additional purpose, we will will contact you to negotiate such usage.
4. You must hold all the rights for the photograph submitted, and all associated permissions for any persons or objects contained in the photograph. Submission of a photo to this contest constitutes a warranty to the International Museum of Women that you hold such rights.
