Old signs. Neon, plastic, steel, whatever. Come share 'em! :-) (Sign fragments are better suited to a group that specializes in them.) Thanks to all who help this group grow with great vintage sign photos. Here, it's quality first, and you guys help make that so. :-)

Group Description

Welcome to I Love Old Signs!

Do you love old signs? If so, this is probably a group you'll enjoy!

What's welcome:

Old neon (working or not), steel or plastic signs. Ghost ads on the sides of buildings. Look carefully at your sign. Does it look older than 1970 or so? Then it'll probably fit into the group OK. We're not going to be too harsh, or make you produce evidence that proves the age of your sign. If it looks and feels old, it'll most likely fit in. ("Vintage" is welcome, "Retro" is not. "Retro" means new made to look old, "Vintage" is old, the real thing.) We're pretty easy going here. It's all about the appreciation of old signs and the craftsmenship it took to make them.

The group works "on approval", which means when you add it, someone has to look at it before it's either approved or not for the group. This isn't anything personal, it just lets us better screen what's in the group, and keep some folks from dumping stuff that doesn't belong. (It's much easier to clean now than later!) If your photo wasn't approved, please don't take it personally, just try another. :-) Photos that are invited to the group appear instantly. (Note: If a photo you posted didn't get added, please don't add it again, thanks!)

Please be aware that the sign has to be the major focus of your photo. Long shots with a sign far off, or shots where the sign isn't prominent probably won't be passed along into the group.

What doesn't fit here:

Road/highway signs, historical markers, new signs, reproductions of old signs (which include those fake-old metal signs you buy at a gift shop), temporary (paper/posterboard) signs. Make it nice, make it old, and it's a shoe-in for the group. :-)

Please, if you have multiple angles/shots of the same sign, post only what you feel is the best of them.

Note: While we LOVE the place, photos from the Neon Museum in Las Vegas are getting overdone here. We've seen 'em over and over again. Unless you have a nice, fresh take on it, or a sign there others haven't posted, let's take it easy on those shots, ok?

Please feel free to browse the contributions of others, and perhaps leave a comment if you enjoy their photo. This isn't a rule or commandment, just tryin' to be neighborly. :-)

While you're here, here's some other places you can post your signs to, if they fit in.

• Motels, Hotels: Motel & Hotel Signs
• Laundromats & Cleaners: Wash & Dry (Laundromats & Cleaners)
• Rexall Signs: Rexall Drug Store
• Businesses starting with "Mister": Mr. Business
• Vacu-Formed Signs: Vacuum Formed Signs
• Diners & Drive-In signs: Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives
• Signs with martini glasses on 'em: Lost Weekends
• Liquor Store Signs: Liquor stores
• Plastic signs: Plastic Signage
• Vintage motel only: Vintage Motel Signs Only!

(Please read each group's rules or "About" page before adding to them, thanks!)

Please help us grow!

If you see photos you think should be in this group, simply cut-n-paste this into a comment box to invite the photo:
