The armchair garden tour: beautiful and descriptive photos of historical gardens and parks. Sites are collected in 'discussions' based on country and region. Each garden or park is identified by a specific tag. The admin will add such tags to individual photos when necessary.
Group DescriptionThe armchair garden tour: photos of historical gardens around the world, collected in slideshows based on location tags (one tag per garden, park). We are interested in all kinds of pictures, as long as the landscape or site is somehow identifiable by clear characteristics and tags. Photos of garden plans and older photographs or postcards are particularly welcome.
You are invited to share your pictures, discussions and views in this group and together turn it into a highly interested but relaxed community of garden enthusiasts. When you add pictures to the pool, please also notify us in the appropiate discussion thread. Threads are grouped at the level of provinces (Länder, shires, counties, regions, states, etc). You are invited to create a new thread if you are not able to find it.
Otherwise, tour the world map to find gardens near where you are, or to plan your garden trip.
The boring but necessary rules are listed below. But most importantly: have fun!
Group RulesPlease take into account the following easy rules for posting in this pool:
> The photo has to be taken in or of an historical park or garden, or another form of designed landscape.
> The park, garden or landscape should be designed at least 50 years ago, but your photo could well be of a recent addition to it.
> Please no macros of flowers or trees, unless the particular species is important to the particular site in some way. Please state such in the description if that is the case.
> Please identify the location in the title or description of the photo, in a tag, or on the map.
> Please let us know you have added photos of a particular site by posting a comment in an existing thread, or by creating a new one. The discussion threads are organised by country and region.
