Dear friends,

Well our little group celebrating Queen Elizabeth I is growing slowly but surely. I'm thrilled by the pictures that have been added to the gallery .. there are exquisite costumes, re-enactors, Elizabethan-inspired jewellery, as well as portraits, dolls, historic houses, fan art, statues and documents.

Do keep adding any images you think celebrate our dear Gloriana.

Thank you!

Group Description

Dear friends,

This is a place to celebrate the astounding lady who was our 'Virgin Queen' and last Tudor monarch, Queen Elizabeth I (1533-1603).

As the daughter of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, hers seemed an ill-fated birth. Despite the stain of being called an unwanted daughter of a "witch" and labeled "illegitimate", she rose to reign victorious for 45 years.

Hers is a tale of survival, intelligence, courage, wit, determination and female intuition. She survived a politically dangerous and difficult period in history, alone - always refusing to dilute her power by taking a husband.

She told her subjects in a stirring speech in 1601;

"There is no jewel, be it of never so high a price, which I set before this jewel; I mean your love."

Gloriana; may we never forget her.
