Wider World ADMIN July 14, 2011
13 July 2011 was the 200th anniversary of the birth of Sir George Gilbert Scott - the perfect opportunity to record his legacy. If anyone wants a picture of Sir George for a bicentenary display in their own building, contact the pool Admin.

Take a look at the Gilbert Scott pool Index showing more than 300 works by the Gilbert Scott dynasty ; there are plenty more not yet included.

Group Description

The works of the Victorian architect, Sir George Gilbert Scott (1811-1878) - also known as Sir Gilbert Scott, his sons George Gilbert Scott Junior (1839-1897) and John Oldrid Scott (1841-1913), and grandsons Sir Giles Gilbert Scott (1880-1960) Adrian Gilbert Scott (1882-1963), and Charles Marriott Oldrid Scott (1880-1952), and great-grandson, Richard Gilbert Scott.

Why lump them together? These seven people must surely be the most successful architectural dynasty England has produced, with a major impact on the built environment in Britain and beyond.
