according to this thread, Status in the Hacker Culture is defined by doing the following:
1. Write open-source software
2. Help test and debug open-source software
3. Publish useful information
4. Help keep the infrastructure working
5. Serve the hacker culture itself

how are u contributing?

I contribute by
- posting stuff and comments on KDE-look.org
- writing bug reports whenever I find one I could confirm as a bug
- helping new users by posting in the fedoraforum and fedorawiki

But it is only useful for people who manage bigger networks and it's only available in German (well, inside the tool that does noct matter, but I am too lazy to translate the documentation).

I use a lot of OSS, and when I run into a bug I usually register it.
I contributed to some projects, but only minor patches.

OSS pwnz though, so I do my best to support it.

I use to test debian sid but I've been so busy lately I usually just donate money to the projects I use the most. I'll still file bug reports and try to help out on forums but I'm not as involved as I use to be.

I'm a developer for openser admin, a SIP proxy application hosted on sourceforge.
I have also have a single, lonely patch to the radio automation software campcaster.
I'm in the process of documenting a clean install of Ubuntu Studio for audio work. It'll be on my blog:
