This group is for photos in the style and/or spirit of Gilbert Garcin. Have a look through his web site to see examples of his work.
Garcin took up photography aged 65 when he retired! His approach is to take self portraits, cut them out literally and create scenes that are often comical or absurd with him in them in which he explores the human condition.
He does this by having a box with sand in and sometimes objects and projects a background with a slide and then places his cut out self (literally cut out) in the scene and photographs it - all very low tech style. His photos are all titled and the title is part of the intrigue. The Ealing group of London Independent Photography took on a challenge of creating a Garcin-esque photo (download the original pdf challenge here). We had a lot of fun! Some of our photos are in here but we thought we'd throw the challenge open to anyone else on flickr.
The photo should be black and white and titled and in some way explore the human condition. There's nothing to stop you using photoshop though the low-tech approach is a good challenge.
