Galilean Nights astrophotography competition closing date 27th October 2009! Get your submissions in as soon as possible! Remember all photos must have been taken after 17 September 2009. If you have entered the competition please check that your entries have been tagged correctly! Tags: "competition" and "earthandsky" or "beyondearth". Remember that Beyond Earth has a limit on the telescope size of 20cm/8inches that can be used.

Group Description

The official Galilean Nights Flickr group, dedicated to photographs and images relating to the latest Cornerstone Project of the International Year of Astronomy 2009.

If you want to enter a photograph to the Galilean Nights Astrophotography Competition, then your photographs must be be taken between 17 September 2009 and 27 October 2009 and be submitted to the group by the end of 27 October 2009 (GMT), and be tagged with "competition" and the category you are entering, either "earthandsky" or "beyondearth".

For the purposes of the competition, Galilean Objects are taken to be:
The Sun
The Moon
The Milky Way
The Pleiades (Messier object 45)
The Beehive Cluster (Messier object 44)
The Orion Nebula (Messier object 42)

Any other objects are excluded.

By submitting a photograph to the group and to the competition, you are agreeing to the Galilean Nights Astrophotography Competition rules:

For non competition submissions - you are all welcome to add lots of relevant photos and artwork. They can be astrophotographs of the Galilean Objects, artwork/posters/graphics that you have made to promote your Galilean Nights event, or photographs of your preparations for the event itself. Anything Galilean Nights related! Just make sure to tag them with "Galilean Nights" and "IYA2009" to make us all happy.
