Hello All,

I'm interested in meeting other modern minded quilt people in the triangle area. I would love to meet once a month to chit chat about cool designs, fabrics and techniques.

Please let me know if you are interested/

Hello,

Sorry for the late reply, but life calls. I'm glad to see there are some modern quilters in the area. I really do feel like the odd-man out in my local quilting bee because my style and taste is more modern.

Please feel free to email at bronte@nc.rr.com. Perhaps we could arrange a convenient time and place to meet in the future.

Best Regards,
Miki

Im learning so I wouldnt call me a "modern quilter" yet but.. eventually ill be better. If there's a meetup Id love to be invited. :)
I'm from Raleigh but not a quilter. This quilt was made over 100 year ago just outside of Raleigh close to Fuquay-Varina were my family on my moms side grew up. I have never seen this quilt in all of my life. My mom has kept it in a cedar chest all these years and unveiled it to me as a present last week. It was made by my great Granny over 100 years ago and is in perfect condition. Being a jacquard and print designer by trade, man I was blown away. It is just so cool because of the history and age but also the craftsmanship of the quilt. Thanks mom!!

ooo!! This is my way too!! I am always between Jacksonville and Pinehurst. This would be fun! Am I too late? Or possibly another meet up?

Not too late! I'll see about sending out an email to everyone here...

Hey everyone....just an FYI, I'm still interested in meeting up. Are people available during the first 2 weeks of Dec.? If not, I could try and arrange something after the holidays....any thoughts?

Miki, I just sent you an email! I would love to meet other quilters. Currently, when I talk about Amy Butler and Heather Ross my friends assume they are "quilting" friends that I have.

Hey all! Branches of the Modern Quilt Guild popping up all over the place and I thought I'd check here to see if maybe in organizing meetings you'd like to start a branch yourselves? We're all working together to find people for all of the branches!.

Kat just commented on my blog and she's from this area - please email her at orangegiggle@bellsouth.net if you'd like to join or help her to get a branch of the Modern Quilt Guild going in the Raleigh-Durham Area!

Might I recommend starting a ning.com group? Wonderful tool for everyone to communicate and organize. It's been invaluable for us in the LA branch. (You can see ours here: lamodernquiltguild.ning.com) If you do start one let me know the link as we're getting a site up as a central hub with all branch links. Fun!

I like it.....I think the ning.com group would be an excellent meeting place for a raleigh/durham/chapel hill group. Is it easy to setup and manage?
alissahcarlton PRO 6 years ago
Super easy! If you start the group then people just join it (you can email invites) and you can organize away. Very easy to use the site. if you have questions about it feel free to email me: alissa @ handmadebyalissa. com

So are we also emailing "kat" or did you email her brontemonster? (I emailed you my info)
Bluprint Textiles 6 years ago
Ok I also emailed "Kat" and forwarded her the link to our discussion here if someone hasn't already! I can't wait to get started!

I think I've got everyone about 10 people so far on a distribution list. Just waiting on some feedback as to where everyone lives and a good meeting time.

Hey ya'll. Sorry to be late to the conversation. I think I've emailed alot of you directly already, but maybe some of you I haven't. Anyway, I don't know much about Ning but I've gone ahead and started a site - trianglemodernquilts.ning.com
I'm actually at work at the moment, so I can't do too much fine tuning at present, but we can continue the discussion as to date and time for our first meeting on there if you like. I'll put the proposed details in a discussion there and feel free to chime in!
Thanks,
Kat
