I think flickr should make some kind of card you can but at stores(like walmart, zellers, best buy, future shop, etc.)
Then, you can simply type the code in and BAM you have flickr pro. Some people(like me) are not allowed to get flickr pro because they can't use credit cards on the internet. Some websites have already done this and i think it's flickr's turn!

This would solve problems for many people. They already have the gift code system set up, so it's only the distribution that would need to be figured out.

How about a shop I've heard of?

I'm sure every country has suitable big box stores that would fit the bill.

if it's good enough for Club Penguin and the other children's sites that like to fleece parents of their money, then it's good enough for flickr.

I get what the OP is getting at .....a card like an Xbox card or a Wii points card.....you purchase a card for certain amount of dollars that has a serial number or code, once entered on the Flickr site, you now have a pro account .....same basic concept as the current one, just not using a credit card online.
The Terms of Service should be revised to eliminate the requirement for auto-renew. as long as this is a requirement I will NOT "go pro"

(i) your post is unrelated to this thread
(ii) you need only have auto-renew in place for the 30 seconds it takes to go to your account page and cancel it. Cancelling auto-renew does not impact any pro period you have paid for.

That doesn't seem to be related to the subject of this thread, which is discussing alternate payment methods.

(Oops, I was posting as Patrick was posting.)
Patrick Costello:

the title of the thrtead is "different payment method" which is exactly what i mentioned.

So you don't mind it auto renewing as long as you can use a store card?

In your first reply in this topic, this is what you wrote:

Which part of that refers to an alternate means of purchasing a Flickr pro account?

G5.W Cowboy Photography - your post is unrelated to this thread. There is no 'requirement' for one to auto-renew. I will concede that cancelling the auto-renew option is terribly misleading and needs to be changed.
elementalPaul:

if you are unable to apprehend that "terms of service: auto-renew" is related to the method of payment then perhaps you should study business.

G5.W Cowboy Photography - this thread is about alternative payment methods and nothing whatsoever to do with auto renewing when one upgrades to pro.

The clue is in the title 'Different payment method'. If this thread was about renewing pro accounts it would have a relevant title like, 'Renewing pro account', for example.

+1, exactly because of the point that made and conceded. Perhaps flickr/Yahoo might come to understand that cards bought and not used still represent revenue. It would be interesting to see whether the suits fear this method because it bypasses their sleazery.
