Equipment In Use

I am curious to know what they of flash equipment people are using.

I am currently using one SB-600 that I fire most often off camera using CLS. Would really like to get some more strobes though and maybe some umbrellas and softboxes.

1 SB-800
1 SB-600
2 Westcott Combo Umbrellas (bounce, shoot through, etc.) with stands
1 3' reflector (gold/silver/white - collapsable)

Just bought the Elinchrom D-Lite 4 To Go pack - 2x400w strobe heads, two softboxes, two stands. Need to pick up the Elinchrom Skyports next.

Was using (and will continue to use) CLS when working with the SBs. Will use the Skyports when using the Elinchroms with the SB-800.

Should have shots of the three lights being used later this week - will post results.

one SB-800. I don't even have CLS capability because I'm using a D40

I think I'd probably buy a decent reflector before I got another strobe, or even a softbox - just me though

D40
1 Nikon SB-600
1 Vivitar 285HV
2 LomoPro 8' air cushioned light stands.
1 Westcott silver bounce umbrella
1 DIY Beauty Dish (works awesome)
Cactus triggers (one transmitter, two receivers)
1 Wein peanut optical trigger
1 fotodiox optical trigger
1 SC-28 TTL cord (for when I get lazy)
1 Velbon monopod (doubles as a boom stick with the TTL cord and SB-600)

I need a reflector like the one precious has, and probably a shoot through, but believe it or not, the above collection of odds and ends is actually really portable and is easy to fit into a backpack.

1 SB-800, 3 SB-600. 2 Westcott Combo umbrellas (same as precious - we bought them in the same order) as well as a regular silver-lined reflector umbrella. 1 3' collapsible reflector.

I use CLS, but just picked up a SC-27 cord for basic off-camera work.

As far as umbrella vs softbox vs beauty dish goes, I'm finding they all look the same when you're using a basic battery-powered flash like the SB600; the light is too directional. There's no substitute for omnidirectional studio strobes in those cases.
