NEW RULE a botanical name in either title, description or tag is required. I'll be nasty and remove pics without it and will not notify contributors due to lack of time! As soon as a scientific name is attached either in title or description or tag, pls add your image to group again. Why this update? Read more in the rules sections! thx, Brigitte

Group Description
European natives only | Botanical ID either in title or description necessary for easier handling of approval queue.New Admin 2013-03-06
I've been promoted automatically as the most senior member, according to flickr procedures, to group admin: Peganum, the founder and longtime admin, has left the group.
I'll try to handle the load of images waiting for approval. Pls stand by! (finished !! 2013-07-28)

What the group founder, Peganum, said about this group:
European gardeners sometimes tend to assume that all the best plants come from the other side of the world (China, Australia, Mexico etc) but not only does Europe have a long and fascinating horticultural history including a vast variety of culinary and medicinal herbs, it also has some absolutely gorgeous native species.
I don't like to go all authoritarian on you, but can we only have actual European natives? A lot of other 'native' groups seem to get full of plants from other parts of the world that have escaped into the wild or been photographed in a garden.
I'm using a fairly broad notion of Europe - anything west of and including the Caucasus and Urals, and including the Mediterranean will do. Turkey and the Holy Land can be a judgement call here...

As some prolific contributors to the group enrich it with plants from these regions I have to check many plants unfamiliar to me (learning curve is pretty steep ;)). BUT I do NOT have the time to go to the indivdual photo pages in seek of botanical names.
Original rule by peganum, the groups founder, is still valid.
I really want to keep this native Europeans only. Please check the origin of your plant pictures before posting.
