Hello, I am just about to commence contributions to EOL and hence ALA. But I have three concerns:
1. It is requested that all photos contributed to this group be high res. But I have always uploaded good quality but low res photos to Flickr and I now have photos of thousands of records that I could contribute to EOL, if low res photos are acceptable.
2. It is request...
I'm not sure what I did wrong, but the following image has not posted to the species page on EOL. I have licensed the photo under creative commons: "attribution non-commercial." I believe I have applied the correct machine tag. Thanks for your help.
Some images are not going through. I'm hoping someone can have a look at the tags on my images of Peniculistoma mytili and Mytilophilus pacificae (uploaded last night) and tell me what I've done wrong?
Thanks in Advance
Just want to give you a short how to on making shure your Images imported to eol get the trusted status!
You have to search for your flicker username, select photos. then Open every single one and change the status to trusted.
You have to be a eol curator to be able to do that.
Hi all, I'm totally ignorant about species' names so I rely on you Specialists here before adding them to the EOL Group. All of them were photographed in Madagascar, some in the gardens, some in natural parks, some in countryside...
Thanks in advance and sorry for the lengthy post :)

I'm encouraging someone in the open-access BMC Ecology journal to submit some rather pretty ecological photos to this group (e.g. www.flickr.com/photos/bmc_ecology/8592823562/ ). Is there any way of tagging this so that the ecological interactions will get automatically used by EoL for their TraitBank data?
Hello, can someone please help identify this Sponge Crab? I found it just south of Perth, WA.
Size about 10cm, depth 5m.
Information on these seems to be very scarce and conflicting. Closest I could get was Austrodromidia octodentata but I suspect I may be wrong.
Up until recently, I had no problem adding tags as per the EOL requirements ie "taxonomy:binomial= XXXX YYYY" but lately I cannot seem to add the tag in this format. I get an invalid tag message. If I add "XXXX YYYY" it is accepted. Am I missing something?
By no means am I trying to detract the audience of EOL. I submit regularly. I merely want to introduce another flickr group that may be attractive to some group members here who are exclusively macro photographers.
It's called Macro Images for scientists. It's a group that does not show images of small objects in si...
From beginning this group require to tag images with
"taxonomy: species = Species name "
now, I just found, it has been changed to "taxonomy: binomial = Species name "
Do my old tags still work in EOL?
I am very upset and concerned and would like to warn you guys of a recent hack of my Flickr stream.
I have had images taken and deleted from my site
Not the fault of flickr but a attack upon my computer.
This is part of a discussion on another Topic, but I believe it is worth having its own topic in this forum
I believe we need some form of archiving for EOL/Flickr/ALA etc. If Flickr dies, then the work of loading all these images (in my case - over 10,000) will be lost. Whether it is best for EOL or perhaps the Biodiversity Heritage Library (BHL) to do this, I am not s...
I'd say "It's not dead yet" but this article is pretty discouraging:
I'm happy that EOL is one of the most active groups I'm involved in here, but others are starting to dry up in terms of new content. And I haven't been posting as much lately myself.
