Up until recently, I had no problem adding tags as per the EOL requirements ie "taxonomy:binomial= XXXX YYYY" but lately I cannot seem to add the tag in this format. I get an invalid tag message. If I add "XXXX YYYY" it is accepted. Am I missing something?
From beginning this group require to tag images with
"taxonomy: species = Species name "
now, I just found, it has been changed to "taxonomy: binomial = Species name "
Do my old tags still work in EOL?
I am very upset and concerned and would like to warn you guys of a recent hack of my Flickr stream.
I have had images taken and deleted from my site
Not the fault of flickr but a attack upon my computer.
This is part of a discussion on another Topic, but I believe it is worth having its own topic in this forum
I believe we need some form of archiving for EOL/Flickr/ALA etc. If Flickr dies, then the work of loading all these images (in my case - over 10,000) will be lost. Whether it is best for EOL or perhaps the Biodiversity Heritage Library (BHL) to do this, I am not s...
I'd say "It's not dead yet" but this article is pretty discouraging:
I'm happy that EOL is one of the most active groups I'm involved in here, but others are starting to dry up in terms of new content. And I haven't been posting as much lately myself.
we have several undescribed species of nudibranchs our area. The are often only listed by genus and sp.1 or 2 e.g.
Aphelodoris sp. 3
Do I machine tag these
Ever since flickr started this new look, I have not been able to add a photo to a group. Not the change that took place 6 months ago, but the new individual photo view in the new format. Any help would be appreciated.
Can anyone help me identify this?
I found it in a sample of moss, have about 0.5 millimeters. slow movements, without displacement and shrinks when touched.
From Sept. 21-29, 2013, National Geographic invites the whole world to take part in the Great Nature Project, an unprecedented attempt to capture and appreciate Earth’s biodiversity. To join in, snap a picture of a plant or animal in your neighborhood, and upload it to a photo sharing site like Flickr, iNaturalist, Project Noah, iSpot, Instagram, or Twitter making sure ...
Some of my photos (25 to be precise, in the "verify" set on my photostream and I have a list of the links if that helps) have imported incorrectly into EOL. The details appear, but instead of the images, there is the broken link symbol (see eol.org/data_objects/26083977 for an example). The problem has not been resolved with subsequent imports. Is this something that can...
This is the response I just sent to a comment I got from kostolany244 :
Hi, I've just noticed that you left the following comment under one of my photos:
"If your picture should show up in the Encyclopedia of Life, you have to change your license to Attribution License, Attribution-NonCommercial License, Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike License or Attribution-S...
I have only been posting to this group for about a month. I noticed last week-end that many of my images that had appeared on EOL are no longer there. As an example, the Stenacris vitreipennis page had one picture by Mary Keim and one by me. It now has no pictures. Is this a glitch in the system or some kind of regular purge?
Edit: binomial name corrected
So now lFickr have messed around with our groups!.
It takes ages to find the group I want through all these jazzy images, and We appear to have lost the search engine for species within groups. It is really not much good for research anymore. May give up entirely.
We probably should have taken the opportunity of our 100th contest to call it quits. That would have been a nice round number. Entries in the contests have been lagging recently, and it's really not as much fun doing these if only a handful of people participate. We're happy to explore other ways to highlight people's submissions to the group. Maybe we should have gene...
We've got many knowledgeable naturalists in this group, and it's a pity that all of their images get imported to EOL in unreviewed status. There are quite a few people whose identifications I trust blindly, and I often promote their images to trusted status on EOL just on the basis of who the image comes from. It would be great to have a mechanism to separate the photos ...
I'm trying to figure out how best to cope with images that are posted on the EoL Flickr group and also imported and subsequently "research graded" on iNaturalist.
At the moment, the Flickr photo is kept, and the iNaturalist version ignored, even though the Flickr photos are untrusted by default, and the iNaturalist versions are trusted.
However, if we simply delete t...
Pretty much as the title really. It's been a while since I was active here, and I've forgotten the "trick" to figure out which report is for my flickr account?
it's been a while since the report broke now?
