This months challenge, should you except it, is to take a shot that is inspired or recreates a classic album cover. What is a classic album cover? This could spark a lengthy debate, but wether your bag is Floyd or Wham as long as you give a link to the cover or name your influence we can be the judge of what is classic or not. Usual rules apply, 3 entries per person, entries should be a square crop and the closing date is the September meeting. tag your images: Albumcovereffrafc Any pictures of a blank piece of paper passing off as, "The White Album" will be disqualified. For those about to 'shoot' we salute you. See you on the other side.
well I'm glad to see some planning is going ahead. I was begining to think this comp was going to go with a fizz rather than a bang. I need a flying pig. I'm going to create my first album cover this weekend. So come on get snapping.
Haha. Josie - you're so right about Kate Bush! Matty - One of those is a PJ cover but not the ones you're thinking of. Hadn't thought about Benji posing as a sheep (that cover is not a dog, it's a sheep). The high five is my easy option.
I will be snapping, I can promise you. I am entering this competition with gusto!
Good work fellas! Sets the bench pretty high. I almost can't wait to get home to upload the effort I made on honeymoon. Although actually the wife took it, as I'm in it... Hope this isn't disqualified on a technicality...
My friend Emmy who is a crucial cast member for my third entry is still out of the country so no more from me before the closing date. I may do it anyway as I am loving this album reproduction thing. Is there a group for this on Flickr? If not someone needs to make one.
In terms of view counts, Laura's QOTSA beats the pants off everyone. My pathetic effort comes last, even overtaken by Mike H's pic which wasn't even really entered into the competition.
As far as Flickr is concerned, it thinks Moogie's Rumours is most interesting, but that doesn't include Laura's pic as it doesn't show in the search. I'd bet on Laura's being top. Unsurprisingly, my pic is the least interesting of the bunch.
For the record, and for what it's worth, my vote would have gone to cakehole's dramatic, pained and arresting Prodigy cover, with honourable mention to The Moog for entertainment and effort; but it was a tough choice and everyone's entries were enjoyable in one way or another. Ultimately, I preferred the entries which were more inspired by album covers rather than re-staged versions of them, and out of that selection cakehole's seems to have a life of its own outside the album reference.
Coco - you are very considerate with your voting which is very commendable. I should take a leaf out of your book and consider my vote more carefully. I whisked mine over speedily quick.
Re my view counts - I'd noticed that it took no time to surpass 100 views but I guess that happens when you're in your pants and everyone clicks into the flippin' thing to take a closer look. Had Katy submitted a pic I am sure she would've wiped the floor with view counts. I don't think my QOSTA will rank highly in 'interesting'... it's a very tricky formula to predict. In my own flickr, a pic of some clouds is the most interesting.
Effra doesn't like it, so there you go!
Well done everyone. So much fun!
