Okay, after meeting you all years ago and swearing to absorb all the vast knowledge you have to offer in regards to camera and photography, i still have not.

I have a Canon Rebel XT. It came w/ a 18mm-55mm lens.
My husband bought me for Christmas a 18mm-135mm f3.5-5.6 lens.
What's the difference (besides the extended zoom)?

What i think i want is a 50mm f4 (well, f8) and a 75mm-300mm.
Do these sound like good choices?
No difference aside from zoom and physical size really.

You can pick up a new 50mm F/1.8 for around $100

I would get the Tamron 70-300 if I was looking in that range. It's a little less than $400 - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003YH9DZ4?ie=UTF8&tag=daid...

It all depends on what you are trying to do though. For all purpose shooting this should cover all of your bases with the lens you already have.

Thanks Shawn. I feel so guilty about returning the lens my husband bought as i know he did a bunch of research too but i don't think he compared it to what's on my camera now.

basicially what i want is to be able to take pictures of friends and family in mild-moderate lighting and have them come out not blurry.

Get the 50 1.8, it's cheap and probably one of the best lenses I've owned.

Oh and stop being a creeper

thanks Justin. i'm working up the nerve to stop creeping.

Keep what he bought you and get the 50 as Justin mentioned.
