So, I'm just going to throw this out there. I'm kinda feelin' like our little Duluth Photographers Guild flickr group has kinda become a dumping ground for photographers' everywhere.

One and a half years ago, when our 'membership' was around 170 there was more of a local vibe, which was awesome. Don't get me wrong, I like to see photos from photographers everywhere, but I have all of flickr to do that. I really liked that the DPG group, at that time, was comprised of a bunch of locals - people who might actually show up at a meeting or go for a photo walk and, most importantly, were interested in other members' photos, not just increasing their view count or having another group to add their photos to. (I also know there a several DPGers that live a ways away but are always interested in what is going on with the DPG and fellow DPGers, so just know, I'm not talking about those lovely peeps. :P)

Does anyone else have similar or different thoughts on this?

I think it's the nature of the beast that is Flickr.
I see nothing wrong with it, we still have a good core group that meet up monthly.

I know that when I moved away from Duluth, I stopped posting in the DPG pool. I figured that it would probably be inappropriate for me to do so, since I was no longer taking pictures of the Duluth area.

generally... i dispise editors and really really can't stand censors...

free and open is the way to be... at least... for me.

(except for hambone... who should have his admin privs yanked... since he is unable to control himself... sheesh...)

generally... I like focus and don't mind specificity as long as there are also more open places readily accessible, I don't know if there is really anything we can do about this though

Ha ha ha, I still have admin privs. Actually, I would just as soon keep it that way -- it keeps DPG at the top of my flickr list.

I'm moving to the area in January, but I'll be there visiting in December. Do you have a December meeting planned?

Thanks. I should be able to make it. Is there a place already picked? Time?
