Meeting topics........

Let's brainstorm on some potential meeting topics of free discussion and/or experimentation. If these topics were known ahead of time, people could even get out and try things and bring their results and experiences to the meetings.

Here are a few of my ideas off the top of my head to get things started:

Fashion photography -- what does it take to make a true fashion image (or what doesn't it take)?

Marketing yourself as a photographer -- potential do's and don't's

Macro photography -- how to maximize your images.

Color management -- basic to not so basic

Sports/action photography -- More than just SI

Photojournalism -- from Cartier-Bresson to King

Digital workflow -- details of how you do it.

Image sharpness -- pre and post processing.

Infrared Photography -- color, black & white, and everything with a long wavelength

Off the wall lab choices -- new and different options for printing

Budoir for the beginner -- OK, I just threw that in for Justin, sort of.....

I love this idea Brian!!! I belong to the Northern Lights Camera Club, out of Spooner, WI. We meet once a month as a group. Each month there is a member that is willing to share his/her knowledge on a certain subject...such as black and white photography or white balance (for an idea). Then the group also has a topic for photos to share...might be black and white, street life, sunset...there is also a contest and everyone votes on their favorite shot and then the Spooner Advocate publishes the winning photo every month...just some ideas...

Well there is always
small business law,
paperwork you may need and when to use them (ie model releases),
photoshoot etiquette (this one is a big one)
hands on with gear (try it before you buy it.)
more strobist stuff (little tidbits here and there)
location scouting

I agree with all that you said above also, esp fashion photography. that is a subject that I love yet cant seem to make it work.

I really like the topics you posted as well...these things can only make the group grow through sharing of talents...I would love to learn more about lighting and about the law for release's and stuff...

Currently working on a "back to the basics" presentation revolving around nailing exposure and WB in camera. Obviously won't matter a hill of beans to those in the group that already know it all - but may have some merit with those that don't.

Always happy to help out with the other topics that have been mentioned thus far.
