So are you looking to buy one nate? Or just want a raise of hands who has one so we can start a DPG:Tablet group?

Yeah dude, another DPG group for sure.

I'm thinking about getting one. Not sure what to look for so, recommendations welcome.

Well, mine is the smallest size and I like it, but sometimes bigger is better...

I have the Bamboo Fun model #CTE-650 and use it all the time. All I can say is that I waited too long to purchase one.

I have the Wacom Intuos 3 and it is easily the best editing investment i have made. the Bamboo's are a killer deal though (same company just not as pressure sensitive.

Dumb questions, can you use this in lieu of a mouse, like, if you needed to? Or can you only use it within your editing program?
admin

You can use it anywhere on your computer just like a mouse. And they come with a mouse to use on the tablet. I never use the mouse though. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy to use in any program.

The mouse only works on the tablet?
admin
JustinSinks 8 years ago
Yeah. It works just like the pen, doesn't have cables or batteries.
nostalgicearth 8 years ago
I used my mouse all the time (of course I was working from a laptop). I use the pen for specific tasks (spot healing, clone tool) that sort of thing. Get one, you won't regret it. My brother is a graphic designer and he uses the pen for everything. You'll figure out how it fits your workflow.

I'd probably wait till laptops fully utilize touch screen ability such as that.
