I've finally realized that I like to shoot more abstractly with vibrant colors and the such.

I am mostly partial to simple, b/w compositions and landscapes:

Near Kaibab Trail, Grand Canyon B/W, 2006

I wish I could pick one style and stick with it.

Holding to only one "style" is overrated IMHO, and really, I would think that only photographers being paid $Ks for their work stick to one "style" (plus, that style goes through its variations, as well.) All the rest of us schmucks have to keep more options open.

But, Max, it is a great exercise to fully examine a particular style for a time.

(If only I could follow my own advice!)

i find i don't have any distinct style, but i do enjoy personifying stuff through photos..

I like to add a bit of edge to my photos, usually in various Duluth basements with a bunch of sweaty dudes moshin around to some punk.

i go through phases of styles, constantly. i don't feel that my pictures have a consistent style to them at all, but then i could be wrong. i think it's easier to look at another photographer's work and classify their photos as having a particular style, or feel to them. i may not see an underlying theme in all of my photos, but maybe there's something that you consistently notice.

ex: it would be easy for me to "categorize" laramie's work as "really raw, really awesome, in your face, action shots of some really rockin bands" cuz he's definitely found a look that he likes and uses very often. i can tell his photos are his w/out seeing a name attached, and that goes for some other people in the group as well.

What I usually do is write "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer" fanfic, and then ask my friends to act it out. Then I pretend to be a set photographer on a "Biuffy" movie set. I know that Buffy Fanfictography isn't an established style of photography, but I'm trying to break new ground.

I tend to use slow shutters in my Landscapes to show a sense of motion and or calmness.

Jason, can I come over for your next Buffy Fanfictography and can I be Willow? thanks.

I'm starting to favor black and white more. I really like the simplicity. Other than that, just whatever 'looks right' at the moment.
