Where are some accessible abandoned buildings, houses, stores, etc.. that you know about and can share?
I have been wanting to take some building decay images for a while and thought I would ask for some location guidance.
thanks,
- Shawn

Check this out: The Duluth Armory, cool stuff, but judging from the story I don't know how easy it would be to get in without permission. This site has quite a few other local urban explorations that are extremely fascinating. So poke around.

Also check out: Action Squad A Minneapolis based urban exploration site. though they have made a couple of trips up to Duluth.

I've started looking into 'exploring' as well. I've read up a little on a couple of the places that others have been around town and it's been a little thin. I think if you wanted to go about it 'legally' and ask for permission you might have more luck. Action Squad and the guy who does substreet.net are more into NOT ASKING FOR PERMISSION, thus hilarity can ensue with dodging cops/dogs/security types. I'd definitely like to see what we can get around town though.

Ah the Action Squad. A few friends and I made it into the Camebridge State Hospital before it was taken down. That place was scary....

I have a few photos and videos from a building in GA that would scare the shit out of you. The building as surrounded by a 12 foot fence with razor wire along the top. The reason we were there was ATT had a cell site on the roof. The only way in was for a security guy to come and unlock the gate and unlock the front door of this 12 story building. It used to be apartments, ones that housed old people. When we had called that morning to set up the security guy to come let us in, the lady that we talked to thought we were crazy for going up there at night.
Long story short, while up there, we found bare human footprints all over. There were slidding glass doors in all the aprtments that opened up to little balconys that for some reason were left open. There was one apartment that had a table in it, and there was plates set and a candle in the middle. We would hear whispering every now and then. Lights would turn off on their own. We were there from sun up to sun down. The guy with me (my brother in law at the time) was freaked out the entire time and wouldnt come off the roof unless he had too.
Also, a week or so later, my friends Harland and Matt where there doing an upgrade at night. They ended up haveing to stay the night because someone had taken the only elevator down to some random floor and blocked the door open with a pillow. And they could only go down 5 floors via stairs from the top floor due to a fence set up in the 7th floor staircases.
Now, if there is a place like that here in Duluth or somewhere near, Im down!

Well that sure beats nopeming, all there was at nopeming was the walking dead and police officers that like to jump out at you around corners. Then give you a court date that is the same as the first day of school. psh... I'll never get my first day of physics back ever..

I could have guessed it was nopeming... sounds like they've tried to lock that place down for a while. Clyde Iron or the like wouldn't be bad, there's a couple of places probably over in superior that would work, too bad they're a long way from a road, or another building, so cover would be a problem. Not that i've looked into it at all or anything...

Being not from this general region, I must ask... what is Nopeming?
D. Edward Clark 9 years ago
Right now for Nopeming has "caretakers" living there, like guards of an abandoned castle. "The Shining" comes to mind as well.

They should use it for something, apartments or whatever, it's a nice place. I would visit, but I wouldn't live there, what with the over 7000 confirmed deaths over it's years of operations, no sir.

Well when I was there they just had spendy security system that called a guard if it was tripped, idk if they changed it after the fraud business of the original owner, but all in all it wasn't super exciting, just kinda like walking in a old folks home.

I don't know if I could find Nopeming to be scary. I have had family there and used to volunteer time there years and years ago.

However, I am down for scary places that don't lead to getting arrested. I would probably lose my job if I got arrested, or even ticketed.

Still. Nopeming would be a great place to explore.

there used to be a cool place in Soup town but they tore it down years ago (i know i am just full of current, up to date helpful hints, lol) .. it was definately huanted and creepy ....

on a current note i know some places that are definately creepy and abandoned but they might not be legal nor "safe" to enter ....

i wonder if mine and Sparky's friend would let us come out to her 'rents house cuz it is freaky out there too ...

If your up for a road trip. I have always liked the old industrial buildings in the old mines in the Coleraine, Bovey area. You can get to them lagally, There is normaly good roads to them and there has been no work done on them or in them in twenty five thirty years or more. Might want to wait till it dries abit and be prepaired to wash your car a few times. Good abandoned buildings.

There's a small burnt house on Central Entrance I've been wanting to explore when it gets nice out.

Sounds fun. I'm not from the area, but I'd definitely be up for it. Dunno about you guys, but I'm bringing a respirator if I do this. Aspergillosis is bad news.
