Might be a dumb question, but....

Does the quality of the cable matter? My situation:

I bought a $20 cable to hook my laptop to my HDTV and the resolution is, well, less that crappy.....

Anyone?

even most HDTV's have less resolution than a decent computer monitor. i'll let an expert chime in on that, but if i'm not mistaken, you're covering a much larger area with the same (or fewer) lines of resolution, so ya, your pixel-pitch is gonna be crappy.

1) Video-out usually looks bad from computers. Esp. analog signals, which S-VIdeo is.

2) S-Video is 480i (or p... I get them mixed up), which is way less than the resolution of your HDTV.

Does your tv have a DVI input?

Going off what Jason is saying, get a dvi to hdmi adapter if you can. Or atlest composite video, that would get you 720p I belive.
