so, knowing that i'll probably never see my old computer again, and knowing that i have a small stack of memory cards just sitting here... i figured i'd run a recovery program on 'em to see what i could salvage (if anything)... turns out i was able to recover much of my personal work that wasn't backed up... yay.

You've inspired me to back up everything on my laptop. It's a good thing too...apparently I've been quite lazy about it...

get on it!. i preach backing up paid work... but i guess i've never paid that much attention to personal work... still sucks to know its floating around duluth somewhere but like everybody... i never thought it'd happen to me...

Drew, I am so happy for you!!!! I leaned the lesson of back up very hard...when I was working in ARCVIEW making maps in the GIS lab, I created a whole darn project, hours and hours...left the computer on and came back to work the next day, hours and hours...then...gone...lost...all of it. Some strange glitch in the computer and it was gone. I now save, save, save...all of my stuff goes on my external hd and then on to a DVD or two...most things I have in several places.
Anyway, so glad to hear you could recover much of your personal stuff.
Damn dude, that is awesome.
