CS2 vs CS3

I am doing all of my processing as of now with Lightroom 1.1 and Elements 7.0. I really want to upgrade from Elements to Photoshop. Are there any major differences between CS2 and CS3 that would warrant buying CS3 over CS2? If I get CS2 I will be able to do it sooner rather than later because of the cheaper price, but if I would be better off with CS3 I'll save for it.

CS3's ACR (Adobe Camera RAW) is far superior to CS2 and that feature alone is worth it..
I would save for CS3 honestly.

Although, since you are using Lightroom, you have a very nice RAW editor and if you are using Photoshop to make final tweaks, CS2 might just do the trick for you.

Tough call, but I do prefer CS3 over CS2.

ACR with cs4 (I think it's 5.xx+) is by far the best camera raw yet. It's got everything light room has with local adjustments, and you can import specific camera profiles.

Thanks guys. Turns out that I have to get my camera fixed before I buy anything. Somehow the part where the USB connects to it busted, so I can't get my pictures off of my camera now. I just realized that about 10 minutes ago. (I don't have a card reader either, so I am screwed right about now.)

I think I'll just save for cs3 or cs4 then. I had forgotten that Adobe came out with cs4.

CS3 is a LOT faster and leaner than CS2. major deal to me.
Also, buy a 20 dollar card reader!

Agreed, A card reader is faster and more efficient. Also, no need to burn down your camera's batteries.

I had no idea that they are so cheap. I hadn't even looked into buying one before. I'll have to pick one up this week.

well, keep in mind that the higher dollar ones are tons faster than the cheaper ones. It may not be worth it to you, but I cant wait around for my photos. I want them NOW! ;)

the cf reader I use I bought off ebay for $5, works greats, although I had to wait two weeks for it

I think my Sandisk was 30 at the Super WM. I refuse to do camera to computer anymore.

Cs3's ability to batch fix basic stuff if remarkable. Let's say you shoot 33 images with the same lighting, you can open them, select one OR all and make color corrections, warm ups, ...lots of stuff in camera raw window, then apply to all with a click. Weddings that used to take 4-5 hours in CS2, take an hour in CS3!

If you think cs3 is fast, try cs4. On a decent machine the boot times are halved even on my lappy which I only really use for surfing, it runs smoothly.
