I remember maybe five years ago bidding on ql-17's on eBay going "Man, how high should I bid? $32, $35? Oh man, I don't want to waste all that money."

Last year I was shaking and fearing spending too much when I bid about $380 on my current Leica.

Now I look at this ad on craigslist for $1000, and go, "Hmmm. Thats a decent price."

O_o Whats happening to me! Is the the effect of several years of a steady paycheck or something?

I don't know. I'm older than you, Kip, and I hate spending money, even though I still seem to do it a lot.

i'm a huge fan of impulse buys...in the last year i have purchased a 70-200mm f2.8, a new canon 580ex flash, and a 50D...combined time to think about these purchases...15mins

$ amount $3350. so....

3350/15= $223.33/min

I think its because daddy used to hit me when I bought baseball cards.

Daddy stop! They're investments!

What?...

I just found a screenshot of this from about 2003. My current list of watched photo items now sums up to about $10,000. :/

I recently made the excruciating decision to purchase a $185 lens. For the first time ever, I own a lens that is still in production.

But parting with $185 really hurt. Especially since for $129 I got a full kit of Super Takumar screw mount lenses not too long ago.

Voigtlander Color Skopar 35mm f/2.5, wide open.

I don't know that there's really much more for me to spend.

I would like an ultrawide, I'm eyeballing the CV 21/4. The Voigtlander Bessa is a NICE camera -- the nicest I've ever owned. I think that a Leica would just be gluttony at this point. ~$350

I'm happy with my SLR lenses and bodies. Both my Spotmatics need a CLA pretty soon. ~$150

I have a nice spot meter and handheld meter.

I only dabble with MF and LF, so I have what I need there. I know that if I ever want to do anything more with LF, there are a few people around who will lend me stuff.

So, from now on I can probably just plop my photo money on supplies. Which end up costing me about $100 every three months at the rate that I shoot and print.

I'm pretty content with that arrangement. I can shoot photos indefinitely with what I've got.

Isn't that current LF stuff still a loaner? ;)
