Quick.. I dropped my 50mm 1.4 this morning, it while i can here it attempting to focus, it only does so 1% of the time.. I have not lost all hope for it.. Is there anyplace local that could look at it?

Call 1st photo and ask. If there is anyone local, they would know.

Eek!! I did the same thing with my 50 1.8. Well, not the SAME thing, my youngest son hit his head on my lens.
If there is a local person, let us know. If not, canon would only charge like 90 bucks to fix it.

They fixed my 10-22mm for free. I just told them it was coming apart, which it was.

If there's obvious damage to it, you'll get charged.

if its something purely mechanical... gerry patten would likely be able to fix it... he works out of his house, and is a nice enough guy (ableit a bit slow sometimes) but, i'd still check with canon first. and for the 50mm 1.8, thats a cheap enough lens as it is to not think much 'bout repairing it, rather than replacing it.

i believe his # is 726-1071 but i should double check

Canon quoted me about 86$ so ill probably just send it in.. I think its the Auto focus something orantoehr .. I guess the 1.4's are know for thins happening

oh yes, i didnt even pay that much for it, so no i will not be sending it in. though I do have another lens that I need to send in when i get off my lazy ass...
