It's not the same here without any of you!!!!!
I have officially gone through the first night of dorm life, and have made it through the first half day of school. After that was a trip into the heart of downtown Minneapolis which ran us into many interesting things, and people.... most of whom want your money or want to PAY you money 0_0

A long many hours with four other girls was fun-but exhausting... and studies plus projects will keep me stranded here most the time anyways.

The students are given D60's but I've got my D80 ;)
But KIP&JASON we're starting out in the darkroom.
I'll let you know how I do.

Hope to talk to you guys often, and run into you guys when I'm back home!!

-Allison
For what it's worth, you and I haven't met personally yet, but I'll be in the cities full-time in about two weeks... Katy and I will be more than happy to take you to dinner, and show you around a little, plus, I'm always looking for someone to wander around downtown and shoot with.

The best place to start out! I think I'm about to go into the dark room.

Sounds like a great opportunity to learn from some pretty great teachers. A new environment, new styles will develop, etc...

These macs are incredible... and Nancy seems like a great teacher.
I just drove down to National Camera Exchange and drooled over everything.

I only had a few dollars so I bought some negative preservers.
I felt I needed to buy something since everyone was bringing in their five cameras or so.

I approached a nikon user and asked him what he had and he looked at me as if I was crazy. But he said he had 2 d70's and a d300 then quickly turned his back.

Was it something I said??

Hah.

No, I am having a really good time, this seems like a great new chapter in my life. I can't wait to enter some contests.

Did you ask him where the film goes in?

Hah, no, he just looked at me like I was a little kid asking about something they had no idea about... and I said "oh I have a d80" and he just didn't say anything and turned around.

I was like OKAY THENNNN.

You should really play the "totally lost" game around folks like that. And then take awesome pictures while they take pictures of their feet.

"Ohhhhhh.... that's a fancy camera! Can that one make movies, too?"

I miss arts high so much. It was such a great experience for me.

Check out the aquarium in the dorm. I wrote a grant and got money from the state to buy and keep up the aquarium.

Nancy Norwood is one the best teachers in the world, hands down. You must say hello to her from me. That would mean a lot to me. If it wasn't for her I probable wouldn't have kept up with photography.

Also, the Tony Basta gallery was named after one of my best friends that was murdered about a month before I graduated. He was an amazing photographer and person.

Have fun and learn lots, there are so many different perspectives in that school. You'll be amazed.
