so the plan is....

okay, imagine this...

a kid gaining some speed on a bicycle... (preferably downhill) heading towards a volleyball court (the sand kind with the 4x4 wooden edging) before reaching said volleyball court the kid (me) stands up on the seat/handlebars in a surfer/acrobat-esque fashion.

if everything goes as planned, the front tire of this bicycle will collide with the edging at 'bout 20mph projecting the kid (myself) into the sand and HOPEFULLY the bike end over end into the air.

i want to do this. in the next two days, i want as many angles covered with as many FPS as i can get. even a camcorder hopefully.

so i need some help. i need willing photographers to help my vision come true, and i want one person to have the biggest job. time the money shot. The way recycle times and strobes are, the chance of getting this money shot is narrow. but i'm thinking a low/wide head on angle of the landing point would be awesome, lit in cactus/speedlight glory.

of course the photos will come out cool without the whole strobist setup, but the one moneyshot i envision is highly stylized via speedlight.

contact me if you wanna be part of this and when you're available.

for reference. this specific image is merely for my own satisfaction. and maybe a new facebook photo. i dont quite know how to credit a photo if its my vision being facilitated by someone elses shutter click (even da vinci had a painting 'team') but... well, lets just say everyone gets to use the images cause its just for fun anyways.

Bah, if there wasn't so much going on I would be down for certain.

Drew, someday you're going to kill one of your models. On that day, I'll let you hide out in my basement.

I would love to help, but I have a wedding this Saturday.

I am sure Max will chime in with his love for you and will volunteer. LOL
Sorry Max, couldn't resist.

Sorry, but too many things can go wrong with this for me to condone it. Plus, the chances of it turning out the way you envision it is, IMHO, miniscule at best. This is a job for multiple image merging.

But the video camera thing might just get you on AFV.

oh c'mon you guys.... sure the last time i've stood up on a bike was when i was 16... but, thats not something you forget how to do. right?

and brian, you know i'm not gonna settle for a composite on this one. i have to at least TRY, at least you got on record denouncing the idea. (for liabilities sake... ya know, if the authorities try and find out who put me up to this)

and theres at least a few images in my stream that shouldn't have worked. but with enough balloons... (or in this case, Frames Per Second) we might have a chance.

HA, you my friend are by far the most creative person I know. I would be down to help you out sometime next week or weekend, im busy for the next 5 or so days. And who knows, the money shot that gets taken could be you doing a face plant into the sand and bike landing on top of you? haha. I sure hope youre going to wear head protection...

Wow... I knew you guys were a lively bunch, but I had no idea any of you would risk life and limb for a facebook shot.

I'm with Brian in this one... I can't condone your attempting this stunt, but a small part of me is really curious to see if you could pull it off.

(I think that small part is also the part of humans that watch NASCAR for the crashes)

I don't think it's a good idea to try it, but if there is good face plantage video, you could become famous in a viral sense.

It might be a good idea to have a back board and neck brace on hand for this. Just sayin'. ;-)

I have no flash, and can't promise anything in terms of not laughing at your injuries, but I will most likely show up and shoot if this happens on a weekend (other than this Saturday) or afternoon-evening of a week day.

Come on guys... the JACKASS crew made two entire movies and multiple episodes that were more dangerous than this little stunt. Now, if the next one is you lighting a bottle rocket out of your crack, or giving yourself papercuts in the webbing of your hands... count me out. Wait... what am I saying... I'd totally shoot the reactions for those.. HA! I can lend a hand if you're still up for it Drew.
