Rich, do you have kayaks, or do you rent them? I would like to do that, but i do not have a kayak. And I would prob need a quick 15 min warmup to regain my confidence before bringing my camera into open water.
The first ship is in now. It came in earlier than the decc managment thought. So now it's docked and waiting for the others. When they arive its going to leave the harbor and all 3 will come in around 5 is
It was nuts down there. Wow. We were heading over from Superior at 3:45 and we saw the ships getting ready to come under the bridge. We booked it down the Canal Park and there was no parking spots anywhere. Well, I didn't try the DECC, but everywhere else was packed. Crazy. We ended up just leaving and missed them coming in.
So have any of you actually made it onto any of the ships? We took one look at the lines, both human and vehicle, and drove away this morning. We might attempt again tomorrow afternoon, but from what I have heard it hasn't been worth the wait. The tour thing seems like one giant clusterfuck with the lines and crap.
I heard a rumor that one ship is left and holding tours today and tomorrow for anyone who didn't make it on.

in addition... it was posted in the newspaper today (aug 4, 2008) (duluth trib) on the front page that if you had purchased a passport and never got on... they will refund your money...
(we made it on... we waited till it rained out the tourists and went down on sunday afternoon... kids thought that it was cool... and dreamed of when they would be old enough to sail on the ships for the summer!!)
Yep, we will be sending our passports in for the refund. I emailed Visit Duluth this morning to confirm that they would refund us without a receipt. Anyway, we just couldn't wait in line with our two littlest ones. We were down there for a bit Sunday afternoon around 3, but decided to skip the lines.
Jimi, from what I understand the Niagara is still in town because it has sold out sailing tours going on today and tomorrow, not to allow people with the event passports to get on board.
