does such a thing exist?

where could someone get such a thing?

why? what good would it do?

I've got mine. It's in my wallet behind my driver's license, but in front of my license to kill.

I kid! I've never heard of such a thing. I think the point you made ("What good would it do?") is the reason why.

Four words: Wal Mart Photo Lab. I think there is a $15 application processing fee and it will take 90 days to arrive. If I remeber right First Photo can have it done faster, but for more $$

It can get you in to ALL areas with photographic restrictions. Everyone has to honor it, state law.

Sounds like some poppycok invention that a bored Rant-A-Cop makes up on the spot to harass any nearby photographers so he can get his power fix for the day.

flickr will make them for you. I've seen a thread dedicated to different formats/styles.

I'll look and post it up tomorrow.

take a look at this.
www.flickr.com/groups/badge/

I didn't remember reading anything about these being "officially" for anything, just a fun thing to have or show your friends. Fortunately they can look awefully official and would probably get you into some events. maybe.

why can't I italicize my text? argh.

italicize

"<" instead of "["

huh...i believe you can get those made at big huge labs they have a bunch of flickr "toys" as they call them. that's also where "scout" is, a device that finds what pictures you have [if any] in flickr's explore

maybe i'll make one and wear it around my neck wherever i go ;-)

I'd actually be careful about taking photos without a photographer's license.

I wrote some poetry once. I didn't really have poetic license at the time, and I was questioned by the authorities for several hours before they let me go. Since then, I've been really careful to register as a poet and keep my poetic license up to date.

How often do you have to renew it, and where?

alright i give up

it was all a big joke

some guy that i *know* keeps talking about how his buddy is getting his photographer's license soon and i just wanted to see what other people thought of this.

the guy is serious about it though, claiming it is a 3 yr program at lsc. well, my dad works there and i'm at the school writing this and there is no such thing.

what a scam lol

peter...that one is absolutely hilarious. love it.

we should all make one and get them printed and walk around w/ our noses in the air and take pictures of what we want, whenever we want, wherever we want!

*an updated version. i can't wait to see if it works anywhere

I'm thinking Huskies games and perhaps DECC events

this is fun

Sorry to tell you guys, but those venues have lists at the press gates and if you aren't on them, you won't get in.

I actually had an official press pass at one point in my life. It was issued by the State and I used it to get awfully close to the stage line when I went to big conferences out of State and out of country. Not sure if MN issues these things (you had to have officially worked for a newspaper or magazine), the one I had was issued by TN.

is it the kind that fit in the band of a fadora and just said "Press"?

if so that would be sweet....
