i just transferred $25 into my paypal account so i can pay for the pro flickr account this evening. the paypal transactions usually take a while, but should be done late this week, early next week.

that's all. nothing of real importance to this post. just excited to post a ton of pics that i have lined up waiting for their chance to join the flickr community.

what resolution do you post your pics at? i've never filled up 50% of my non-pro account? mine go up at 800pixels across normally and dont take up more than 5-600kb each

w/ a non pro account you have a limit of 200 photos and an upload limit of 5mb per pic

pro accounts have unlimited photos and an upload limit of 10mb per pic

you can also replace pics and some other stuff that i don't know about yet lol

gotchya, see... i've never had enough 'post-worthy' shots in a month to reach 5mb, or 200 (whichever comes first) but i would LOVE to be able to organize/re-arrange better...

I've pretty much just made flickr my online backup now incase something happens to my computer. So all the stuff is not to say "post worthy" anymore.

but congrats you'll enjoy it

Ah, hey Karl -- nice idea for the "off-site" backup, but images saved as small as they are on flickr are generally worthless for anything other then web stuff.

I just hope you are backing up your original files as well, yes?

Pro Accounts allow full backups of High Res images.

So I ask again, Karl -- are you backing up your original files somewhere (flickr or elsewhere)?
admin
Well, I drank the Kool-Aid and bought a pro account. Geez, it is all because of this post too.

I haven't backed up my photos since I got this mac. eekk. I have still yet to figure out a way to backup my photos in iphoto to my external hard drive. I know I can click and drag them out but it only lets me do that in jpgs not raw. I should probably make that my project for tomorrow.

also doesn't the pro accounts save in the highest resolution?

I am currently looking into getting a RAID setup for redundancy. And also backing up to an external Drive that I will keep at work in case of fire at home. Might seem overkill, but really it isn't.
If I lost my images, I would be sick for a long time.

urgh...why is paypal so damn slow?

it takes like a week for your deposits to show up when it's a matter of seconds when you pay for something. i know the deposits aren't going to be as fast, but seriously...

well if it's linked up to your bank account you should be able to pay without anything in your paypal account and it will automatically pay for items. As long as you have a back up funding source "like a credit card" I think?

it is linked to my bank account and i tried already thinking the same thing, but no. they money has to be in paypal.

hopefully it will "recieve funds" sometime soon though...i have like 500 "365 shots" to upload.

that's right...500

Then it must need a back up funding source..

500? wow.. I won't even ask how you did that

p.s. you can add over 200 photos, you won't be able to see some of the old ones you uploaded until you buy a pro account. If you didn't know

If you had your photographers license this wouldn't be an issue....

Did you have to use an eCheck? Those take forever.........
