Just a quick idea to throw out there to maybe think about for later this year. How about we as a group host some sort of youth photography competition as a way of getting kids in our area interested in the arts? Maybe we could piggyback on another event already going on to allow kids to display their work and then announce the winners at said event?

Let me know your thoughts. Oh, and I could take on the majority of the organization for this, but would like it to be an overall group "thing", if that makes sense.

I hold a photography contest at my school every fall so I would be up for it and would give my time and energy to the cause. It is actually a money making event for our Photo Club, even though we give out $180 in cash prizes, plus spend over $100 in printing 11x14s to display.

Moe has done a symposium on digital photography and photo blogs at Harbor City International School, It might be fun to organize a symposium sponsored by us (DPG).
