For those of you who have sold stuff before, how do you decide what prices to put on stuff? I received an inquiry in my email box from someone wanting to buy a few prints and I have no clue what to ask for them.

Second, for those of you who have websites, who do you use for hosting?

I use It is like $7 a month
I designed my site in Photoshop and used lightroom to create my paypal/credit card gallery. (works slick, Ask Brian, he uses it too)
I kind alooked around at other local artists and based my pricing off of their stuff.

for prints only, I charge the following:
5x7 $10
8x10 $25
10x15 $45
20x30 $95
These are printed at WHCC and have an added lustre coating for more UV protection.

I have been told by allot of people that I am charging too little. I haven't promoted my site yet, so Business isn't booming and I am not worried about it right now. I think I am more than fair with my pricing.

You don't want to give your work away, you have to figure the wear and tear on your equipment, your vehicle, gas, scouting, your time processing, getting the file print ready, sending to the printer, packaging and mailing or delivering.

I have no experience in selling prints, but congratulations!

As for hosting, I like Dreamhost ( ); they are honest about what they offer/guarantee and they let me ssh in and perform administration tasks on my server if I need to.

Thanks, Shawn. That is all really helpful.

Jason, thank you! I have no experience selling prints either. I have had a few people ask about it, but I have been laughing everyone off because I haven't felt ready to start selling. I guess with having stuff in the Red Show it is time for me to start being ready. ;-)
Alright, I have my domain name now and I am using Bluehost for hosting. Now to build my site. I'll use Lightroom to build my gallery, but I don't have Photoshop so I am not sure what I can use to build my front page. Is there any cheaper programs out there that I could use to do this?

Sometimes the webhost has simple web design programs in their cpanel, along with a handful of other small useful programs you can use and install
Bluehost does have free templates and an editor. i haven't tried them, but you should be able to find one you like to get you started.
Good luck and congrats!
