Is there a paint or some such tool that can be used to fill in spots? Such as if I have a black back round, but there are blue spots that need to be covered? I don't know if I just haven't found it or if it isn't there. I've tried using the clone/heal tool with no luck. I'm not sure that I really understand how to use the tool though.

So far it seems like a cool program otherwise!

You are using the right tool. What kind of issues are you having with it? It is really only designed for small spots so if you are trying to fill in larger ones, you are much better off in PS.

When I use the clone/heal tool the spots either move to another area or they just don't cover up at all. These are small spots that I am working with. I'm sure I am just not using it right, but I can't figure it out.

I'm used to Elements and Gimp and having a paint tool, dodge tool, etc. that I can just easily fill spots in with. Maybe I need to install Elements on my new laptop too so I can use those tools?

That would certainly be a good option.

About the spot tool in lightroom, you put the spot over the area you want to "cover' and click and drag the circle to the spot you are going to use to cover it (just make sure that there are no other spots in the new region that will copy over the ones you are trying to get rid of). And if you just click on the spot, it will pick what it thinks is the best fit to clone. Try it again because it does work better than you are experiencing.

I think I have it figured out now. I don't think it can do exactly what I want it to do though. I'm going to bring my laptop next Wednesday and maybe you or someone else can give me a quick lesson on how to properly use it?

I tried installing the copy of Elements that you borrowed me on my new laptop and it won't install. Maybe because it has been installed before?

We haven't had any issues with installing it over and over, just remember to cancel the registration when that window pops up. What do you see when you try to install it?
