Group DescriptionDeTour is an interactive documentation project about urban art (writing, streetart, ...) in BERLIN. We are running this experiment for the next two months only and could need your help! If you want to join the group and contribute photos, please contact one of the administrators! Everyone is welcome, but your contributions only make sense, if they fit to some standards. We defined strict guidelines to have a good work flow!
Interested? Yeah, than please check the DeTour-describtion (1.), the standards/guidelines for contributions (2.), a list of tools/techniques (3.) and two examples (4.)!
1. DeTour-describtion: The photos of the DeTour-pool show actual urban art in Berlin. Each one will be copied onto a sheet of paper (14,85cm x 10,5cm, bw) and stuck with adhesive tape in the area, where the shown spot can be found. So the people, who find these bills, can join an urban art tour, which is updated regulary.
YOUR PHOTOS WON'T GET USED FOR ANYTHING ELSE! Quality is more important than quantity! Don't put more than 5 pictures of the same artist into the pool at once!
The DeTour is only about still existing WORKS AND SPOTS, WHICH ARE WORTH TO BE VISITED. Please keep that in mind!
2. The DeTour-bills contain a photo and a describtion. There are standards for the photos, which must be followed:
PHOTO SIZE: 1024 X 1024 PIXELS
PHOTO RESOLUTION: 300 DPI
(Sorry for the large size, but we need to print them)
And there are standards for the describtion. Fill in the following 7 lines, which than will be copy-pasted onto the paper (each line shouldn't have much more than 40 characters):
DISTRICT (due to limited capacity it's only: Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain, Prenzlauer Berg, Mitte)
ARTIST (if you don't know, leave a "?". If there are many artists at the spot, write "Various".
SPOT (describe the location as exactly as you can in one line. Remember, people have to find it!)
VIEWED FROM (some spots are only/best visible from a certain location. Otherwise leave a " )
INFO (anything what is worth to know about the shown spot, but it really is ok to leave a "-")
TOOL/TECHNIQUE (please check our list (3.). If it's something else/special, try to describe it!)
PHOTOGRAPHER (it's your photo. Write your name/ nickname here to be published on the bills)
Of course you're free to write much more into the photo text, to create tags and so on. We will only use the mentioned 7 lines. If you like you can add something like "This picture is part of the documentation project "DeTour".", so the people, who visit your flickr-account not knowing about DeTour, won't get confused.
3. Standard names for the most common tools/techniques used outside:
spray can, paint roller, paint brush, marker, chalk, sticker, poster, cut-out, stencil, installation
4. Here are two examples for the describtions:
Schlesische Str. 37
Revaler Str./Libauer Str.
Swoon's woodcut was pasted 2 years ago.
THANK YOU for your attention and help! Yeah, we are looking forward for your contributions!
WE DON'T CLAIM OUR COLLECTION TO BE COMPLETE! IT'S JUST A DOCUMENTATION AND WE DON'T WANT TO ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO DO ILLEGAL THINGS!
