Have any of you made a quilt with your blocks yet? Make sure to post pics if you have!

I did a little recap of camp 1 on my blog this month. You can read that here:

If you'd like to do a guest post on the design camp blog please send me a note with your idea.

Thanks everyone!
Have machine, will travel. Michelle

Design Camp [think outside the block] Swap

This is a traditional swap, otherwise known as 'Camp!' We have 12 members, each taking one month as 'Counselor' and sending fabric to or requesting stash pulls from the rest of the 'Campers' who will make improvisational blocks with those fabrics and send them back to their Counselor.

Everyone who is interested in camp will be considered, however some considerations will apply. Does the potential camper:
1. have an active flickr site with photos of other sewing projects?
2. a member of any other bees or swaps (it is okay if this is your first bee)
3. have an interest in improvisational quilting?

Camp Rules

1. Each Camper will be assigned a month to be a Counselor over the course of a year.

2. On the 1st of each month, the Counselor will post their inspiration and guidelines for what they would like the other campers to create.

3. Everyone must check in via discussion by the 7th of each month so we know you are out there and creating wonderful things. Feel free to check in more often and start and have discussions. That is what this is all about!

3 1/2. Add to the group pool! Post pics of your process, finished designs, mess-ups, kittens, anything you want to share with the group. We LOVE pictures!!!

4. Each Camper will create and send (mail) their design to the Counselor by the 25th of that month.

5. You are the designer -- you decide!
-- Option A: Send fabric to all the campers and have them create something from that fabric. Please make sure they receive it by the first of your month.
-- Option B: if you prefer each camper pull from their stash, please create a color mosaic (FM me if you are not familiar with how to do this) and post in the Group Pool and Discussion for your month. Please do not ask for a specific fabric from a collection (i.e. so and so's Fabulous Polka Dot in Green or 'only batiks.') If you want something that specific I suggest choosing option A

6. Life and other stuff that happens:
-- If you are unable to be Counselor or need to change your month PLEASE let Michelle (aka designcamppdx) know at least two weeks in advance so she can find a replacement.
-- Please communicate if you are unable to send your design to your counselor or if it will arrive late. Those who disappear and don't send stuff will be scoffed at publicly. (But this won't happen, because I would really be bummed if it did.)

7. And...
-- Please send designs in a ziploc bag inside an envelope to prevent any water damage during transit.

This Swap is intended to inspire us to try new things and to "think outside the block". This can be scary, intimidating, fun, frustrating, exciting, and wonderful. Those moments of discovery are what we are all after. There is no wrong way to approach this, no forbidden techniques, no limitations on fabrics. My only request is that you give clear information for what you would like your campers to explore. Happy Camping!

PS It would be most fantastic if you would post your finished project in the group pool!

PSS ...and it would be great to blog about what you are creating as well!
