Group Description

Debbie Drake was a fitness guru of the late 50s and the 1960s. She had her own television program and she released many vinyl records of her fitness regimes and well-being tips. This is a group for the little-known 1962 Debbie Drake doll by Valentine Toys and for other dolls similar to her.

Other dolls that were similar to Debbie were: 'Polly Play Pose' by Valentine, 'Junior Miss Fashion Doll' by Topco, 'Miss Marlene' and 'Braniff Air Hostess' by Marx Toys.

clone of a clone. bliss!

They all share the same type of body and same head mold. Their quality varies depending on the maker. Although their packaging is brilliant, they were sold with hardly any extra outfits or accessory packs and very little is known about them.

■ Debbie Drake has white hair and only white hair.
■ Miss Marlene has dark brown, reddish brown, yellow or butter blond hair.
■ Polly Play Pose has dark brown hair with blue eyes and funny eyebrows.
■ Braniff Air Hostess has dark brown hair and her arms aren't multi-jointed. Her only additional joints are at the knees, with flat feet.
■ Junior Miss Fashion Doll has ash blond hair.

There is also another fashion doll with a similar multi-jointed body [plus ankle joints!] and a grow hair mechanism like Tressy's. They're called Polly Play n' Curl.
