I'm hoping that someone can help me to confirm my tentative ID on this one. I think this might be a Slender Spreadwing (Lestes rectangularis), despite the fact that it's wings weren't ... well, spread. It was a huge damselfly - about 2-3x the size of most of the normal damsels in the pond, probably 6cm (2.5 inches) or more in length, which immediately removes most damsels from consideration.

Taken at Palmyra Cove Nature Park in Palmyra, NJ at the shadowed edge of a small pond last weekend.
