I own a D40 for 2 years and I'm having a little problem for now.
About a week ago I took a picture of my new computer and the image was VERY dark, I was using the AUTO mode ( I also use the Aperture mode) and I don't know what is happening.
On this weekend, on saturday I was at a meeting and I took picrutes and again the images was very dark.
In some situations, I'm getting this on my photos: a green vertical line with a green dot on the top.
Can someone explain what I'm doing wrong? Or maybe is a problem sith the sensor or the camera?

Btw.: looks like all my photos have this, in the same place. B...
As an active member of this group, I was wondering whether admin has any plans to opt out of the 30/60 limit that Flickr recently imposed. As I understand it, a regular member is now able to post a picture to only 30 groups, and a pro member to 60. With the vast number of groups now existing, this can feel a little restrictive, but Flickr have now enabled groups to opt out...
I'm trying to decide what flash I should buy for my D40 camera. Since the SB400 is no longer available (and I don't like to buy SH products) I have to look for other options.
So far I came up with the following:
- Nikon SB-300
- Sigma EF-610 DG
- Nissin i40
- Nikon SB-700. Negatives here are: It costs more then double then SB300 and it's much, much bigger. Maybe ...
I have a d60, the only way that playback works is for me to turn the camera off, then back on, and immediately press the play button. This trick does not work unless I have the mirror blower function at startup on as well. Once i'm locked out of playback, there's a few other functions that won't work either in the menu. Playback stops working when I take a photo, or en...
Im picking up a D40x shortly and up until now I was determined I was going to purchase the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G Lens to go with it. Im looking at taking mainly portrait, close up shots (of trainers/sneakers, dont judge!) and like the effects you get from the 50mm (blurred background, bokeh etc). However, Ive just read that as the D40x is a DX format cam...
This weekend I took a ton of outdoor and indoor photos both on manual and auto settings.
Saturated colors have a pixelated look, like noise. Many are also not quite focused despite using auto focus.
My camera has just under 34k shutter count, it looks like the life is around 50k.
You will probably want a sample, so I'll go upload one now.
Is this a sign that this camera i...
I have a Nikon D40 with a 35mm Prime lens. Most of my portraits are fairly sharp and in focus but when I try "distance" shots like a full body they are never in focus. I usually shoot hand-held in Manual mode and auto focus. What am I doing wrong? I am self-taught, trial and error so be gentle with the technical terms. I appreciate any and all recommendations.
I've been thinking about a wider lens for my D3100. I currently have the 18-55 kit lens, 55-300mm VR and 50mm 1.8 prime (which I love, by the way).
I'm considering the 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED, and the much less expensive 35mm f/1.8G AF-S. Not sure which one would make more sense? I'm leaning towards the zoom, but ever since getting my first prime lens (the 50mm), I'm a...
Just wondering what's best for my D3100? I shoot raw, so I know I can adjust it until my heart's content in Lightroom, but is it better to get it right from the get go and set it manually on the camera?
I'm not sure if you can help, please.
I've done what I was asked and searched previous discussions but I'm afraid I'm still confused especially as the lens I am thinking of isn't listed in a list of lenses that WILL autofocus with the d40x. It could be an old closed discussion and/or a fairly new lens???
I did a live chat with Jess*ps here in the UK last night and I ...

I have used a D50, then a D40, and finally a D40x for years. This xmas I got a D7000. I know it's not entry level but I like this group. Can I continue to post here or is it forbidden to use a D7000? Either way it's cool but I'd hate to be excommunicated as I am an entry level (beginner's mind) guy at heart. Cheers, Tom
Right now on Amazon they have some good Pre-Black Friday Day deals on Sandisk and Transcend Memory SD cards. For Sandisk they have the 32GB/64GB Extreme cards and with Transcend they have lower to higher end ones as well. There is also a bunch of Sandisk SSDs and thumb drives on sales as part of this sale.

I know there are some discussions about the Helios with NIkon D60 focusing issue, but I didn't find any that actually helped me, maybe someone has encountered a similar issue and can help.
I've purchased the following:
