Group DescriptionVintage (not current!) anti-Communist propaganda in print and popular culture from America (and other communist-fearing countries).
These include: posters, advertisements, products, pulp fiction book covers and jackets depicting communist and socialist themes (including Soviet-era espionage and spy novels), bomb shelter guides and products, etc.
Humorous, ironic, naive and dated stereotypical portrayals are especially welcome. End of the world communist take-overs, Atomic bomb disasters, a red apocalypse, you get the idea.
These should be scans and photos from your own collection, not gathered off the web.
Submissions should be mostly American (or other communist-fearing countries) portrayals and reactions to the Red Menace / Red Scare, circa 40s-80s.
NOTE: For photos of communists, communist buildings, sculptures of Lenin, historic communist sites, recent images, pro-Communist propaganda, and other non-related communist images, please add these to the:
Images of Communism Pool, instead. Thanks!
(Apologies in advance to anyone whose image is removed from the pool. I'm trying to keep the submissions closely in keeping with the original intent of this group.)
Group Rules- Images should be VINTAGE (80s and earlier)
- Images should show a fear of communism, or portray a stereotype of communism and communists.
- Most images should be print - such as from books, magazines, posters, signs, advertisements, instructional guides, etc. (Murals, toys, and other mass market products can also be ok, if they fit the specifications above.)
Note: Merely showing a communist, or portraying communism, is not enough for this pool.
