There will be a free forum about becoming a citizen journalist at the Cleveland Park Library on Tuesday, May 29th. This will be an "Introduction to Citizen Journalism," sponsored by NowPublic, and led by former MNSBC chief Washington correspondent, Brock Meeks.
The details --
When: Tuesday, May 29th, 6:30pm
Where: Cleveland Park Library, Connecticut Avenue and Macomb Street, NW
At this meeting you'll learn what citizen journalism is, how to report the news, where to find sources, how to conduct an interview, how to deal with your own biases, the basics of news photography, dealing with the police, and more. There will be ample time for questions and answers. Traditional journalists can't be everywhere all the time, which is one of the reasons why citizen journalists, especially photographers, are important.
Because many of us Flickrites are never far away from our cameras, we're in an excellent position to report the news.
You're welcome to join NowPublic in advance of the May 29th meeting (or if you can't attend): visit www.nowpublic.com/clevelandpark to sign up. NowPublic's news is distributed by the Associated Press.
