I do have a set of criterion for these. They're marked up on the blue racer here. Some variance is cool, too much variance is getting removed from the pool.

I've also added a bigger picture with the requirements marked

If you have a question, just ask.

Question. Can it be a different color spear and can I use the circular wrench? I can't find the other kind of wrench right now

Yes. If you have the ones in the pic I'd prefer to see them used but otherwise it really doesn't matter much.

I've built three, two I think will be okay, but may be stretching the rules a bit. Should I just post it to the group and see if it lasts, or FlickrMail you about, or what?

Stretching the rules is fine, posting something that looks nothing like it belongs is not.

Me thinks I shall find a seat on the bandwagon. In fact I'd like to get a race group collab for Brickworld if that is ok. BTW, since I seem to see group shots of 3, is that the race size limit?

Instead of a spear, can it be some type of sharp poky thing?

Fradel> Go for it. The three is just the tolerance of people's photography efforts I suspect ;) If you want to assemble a race for BW go for it.

sam(us)> Changing to another sharp poky thing is fine. The sharp poky thing and round wrenchy thing keep them in the air.

Oh man, if that sharp poky thing goes into the round wrenchy thing...it would be sooo good. Yeah, I'll get to work on my own racer after I get back from work and whip up some ideas for the BW collab. It would go well with this years display theme of "Sky's the Limit." Its basically a celebration of anything that floats in the air or flies. The racer theme is something fresh and exciting for both new and old builder alike.

my only question: Weaponry, allowed or not
admin
gambort PRO 11 years ago
Not allowed

Adding a weapon to a racer is a pathetic act which runs counter to the gentlemanly sport of careening through caves at ridiculous speeds.

Well said Ley.

thats what I was thinking. thanks for the clarification

can i have just 3 out of 4 of the requirments

can the trans-orange 1x1s be any color

can i substitute the 1x1 cylinder or 2x1 flat for the trans-orange piece piece
Skinny Pete Deux 11 years ago
legoman31, It is best to have all the requirements nailed down.

Trans oarnge 1x1's are common enough I would think you would have at least two. But perhaps not.

Much like the world of racing, whether it be cave racing or bike racing or what have you, the LEGO hobby does require a certain commitment of time and funds. If you can't make these, take some time to get up to speed. I never got a chance to jump on the Pod bandwagon when I was coming out of my dark age. C'est la vie.

We all have wishes; taking the time to make them real... takes time.
Skinny Pete Deux 11 years ago
Thats what I wanted to say Ley, but you did it far more tactfully than I could have.
Just.Sie 11 years ago
well i already had 8 built that i really like but none of them fit the requirments

since i only have one wrench, and i used that on my first CR, can i use a Plate 1 x 1 with Clip Horizontal?
admin

Bump!

whateverly 10 years ago
I'd say no to the plate 1x1 with clip horizontal. Just reuse the wrench you have. You'll only have an issue when you want to photograph more than one in a group and then you can get creative with angles and such to hide the missing wrenches. Bricklink can have your wrenches to you within a week.

I built a car that I really like but it doesn't fit the requirements.
Ɍaillery 10 years ago
I have heard about Bricklink. From what I gathered is that it is a easy way to get certain bricks. What are the shipping prices? I would hope that they're cheap for just a tiny Lego.

Dang you thought of a cave racer on wheels to! Well back to the whacky board of weird Cave racers.

Nevertheless, I may dial up the subtlety even further.

Could the round 1x1s be neon green? I think they would blend in with my racer better.

Just out of curiousity, when did shovels become an acceptable substitute for wrenches? Have you ever tried to change a tire with only a shovel?
admin
gambort PRO Posted 10 years ago. Edited by gambort (admin) 10 years ago
The Pigs on the Wing contest had a single rule change from spanners to shovels. Partially for amusement and partially to test if people would read the rules. I imagine the lack of an opposable thumb would be the real killer.
Zepher13 10 years ago
Agreed. I think I hit all the criteria. I wish I had known about this thread before I Flickrmailed Gambort so many questions. I'm sorry Gambort! No one ended up commenting on my caveracer here any -ways.

It is my understanding that on the racer you need a wrench and a spear, or something ... Pointy ?

I was honestly surprised when I saw this group come back up in recent updates in my groups.
